declaring insomnia bankruptcy. can't just be in bed anymore. the good news is that i have had this thing i've wanted to hack on but work has been too busy for me to carve out time for it.

i got the litter-robot-4 when it went on sale on chewy
i did not know one robot could serve five cats. simply incredible.
this was the most surprising part of it. the worst part of a litterbox was having to declare bankruptcy and change out the whole thing. so far, after a few weeks, i've not had to do it. you just have to replace the small bag at the base that collects the used litter clumps.
it's not just the lack of scooping, but also that there's no need to "change out" the litter as far as i can tell. because it automatically cycles after each use, the litter remains pretty clean at all times. you of course need to occasionally add a little bit of litter to keep it at levels.
if you're on the fence about getting a robot litterbox, do it. it's lifechanging. there's close to zero maintenance compared to what i was doing to keep my apartment clean and smelling nice.

it’s a shame you can’t trust even basic timer functionality with alexa plus anymore. they have incredibly made worse one of the best uses of these devices.
let the new tenants above me know about the thin floors and it went about as well as you'd expect. i was extremely friendly but i guess some people just suck.
statistically it's very unlikely that 2026 will be worse than 2025. i'm filled with optimism and relief that i made it.
