Airport gate waiting areas are where the last few tattered shreds of civility go to die.

Thank you! Visiting the campus this coming Friday, so here's to hoping they don't regret their decision ๐Ÿ˜‚

Somewhere between "just trust me, bro" and "shut up and sit down, peasant" lies our nation's fiscal, international, and military plans.

In response to NPR updating its logo from "NPR" to "WHY", commenters are saying that NPR is too biased and that FOX News is where we should all be getting our information from.

So, anyway, the internet was a tremendous mistake and I'm logging off now to go listen to NPR.

We are! We're looking to move this summer, if not sooner. It's all still very much a "wait, is Ashton Kutcher going to pop out and yell at me?" sort of feeling!

Looks like those pesky economic and legal experts, who have dedicated their nerdy little careers to the topics of economics and law, were right again >:(

Just for funsies, can we try believing experts for once? Maybe see how that turns out?

Boston College, History! I had an offer up in Wisconsin as well, and one pending in Minnesota that I withdrew. Excited for the new chapter and environment!

I have accepted a doctoral offer and received my university email, as well as access to the graduate student portal. It's real!

I'm not sure when I'm considered a PhD student, but today was the first day that I felt like one. I was never meant to make it this far, yet I have. I made it after all.

Pretty crazy to see my undergrad thesis "American Classicism: The Use and Abuse of Classical Antiquity by the US Far Right" (2024) be quite literally demonstrated and backed up by the US Department of State. Just crazy.

Maybe I should finally get around to revising and submit or release it?

Segregation Academies Still Operate Across the South. One Town Grapples With Its Divided Schools. Seventy years after Brown v. Board, Black and white residents, in Camden, Alabama, say they would like to see their children schooled together. But after so long apart, they arenโ€™t sure how to make it...

After the Brown v. Board decision, white people across the South opened hundreds of private schools.

70+ years later, most of the ones still open in Alabamaโ€™s Black Belt remain overwhelmingly white.

In this town, one school keeps kids divided.

If all these rich men "regret" their time with Epstein then why didn't they announce prior to the release of the files that their names would be part of the collection? Why didn't they self-report? The answer is they are not sorry and have no regret. They are sorry and regret they got caught.

Pop star Bad Bunny needed a Puerto Rican history scholar. UWโ€“Madison had just the one. Bad Bunny collaborated with UWโ€“Madison history professor Jorell Melรฉndez-Badillo on Puerto Rican narratives that accompany the new album โ€œDeBร TiRAR MรกS FOToS.โ€

Not at all surprised to learn that Bad Bunny has a historical adviser. His halftime show was a reminder that our history and culture are deeply intertwined with the rest of the western hemisphere. We should think of his performance as part of #America250. #SuperBowl

Turns out that my husband is a football afficionado โ€” even though this is the first game in our ~10 years together that we've watched! โ€” and he's graciously explaining it all to me.

As a former rugby player, therein lies my heart, but I'm grateful for the intel ๐Ÿ™

While I do like the Seahawks's colors better, I suppose I should cheer for the Patriots given that we're about to be New England residents for six years.

I just hope everyone has fun and that domestic violence cases don't skyrocket on account of the recent legalization of gambling in Missouri.

The Real Story Behind the Midnight Immigration Raid on a Chicago Apartment Building The Trump administration has claimed the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua had taken over the building. But new documents make no mention of the gang and reveal federal agents had information about โ€œille...

DHS repeatedly said that an aggressive apartment raid in Chicago last fall was prompted by intel on a gang takeover.

New documents show the real story behind the raid was to target alleged squatters โ€” with the landlord's blessing.

1. It was not an accident.
2. It was not a staffer.
3. While the president may have dementia his racism is not due to dementia.
4. He isnโ€™t sorry. He means every racist thought he shares.
5. His base agrees with him.
6. He will do it again.
7. No one in power will hold him accountable.

My belief is that politicians should ignore polls all together.

They really arenโ€™t that great and their obsession with them is obviously causing more harm than good.

FAS Announces New Endowment for Ph.D. Candidates | Harvard Magazine A $50 million gift from alumni donors aims to protect research opportunities amid political uncertainty

Many universities eager to cut PhD cohorts and programs will follow Harvardโ€™s example and cut.

But they will not be able to rally donors and raise $50-$100 million to re-fund those PhD programs โ€œin perpetuityโ€ as Harvard is now doing
