New preliminary data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics shows the Blacksburg-Christiansburg-Radford metropolitan area’s unemployment rate rose from 3.8% in May to 5.5% in June, with the number of unemployed rising from 3,429 to 4,881.

An outpouring of support for the Vogler family followed the attack. In addition to the GoFundMe, the family is accepting cards to place in Vogler’s room as he undergoes multiple surgeries and continues on the road to recovery.
Support has been pouring in for Lee Vogler, the local leader who’s helped shape Danville’s future for more than a decade. The Danville City Council member was attacked and set on fire in July, and likely faces dozens of surgeries and months of recovery.
