Extraordinary to be reading in the media about our chances of surviving a global nuclear war... 43 years post "The Day After" and terrifying another generation.
We are the dumbest species to ever walk the planet, and that includes cockroaches.

So how are people with mobility issues supposed to navigate past this? 🤨
Single frame. Angus Taylor at table with generic colleague at whiteboard holding marker. On whiteboard, two headings: “GOOD IMMIGRANTS” and “BAD IMMIGRANTS”. Under first: “# People like us; # Business people; # Wealthy people; # Cheap labour”. Nothing yet under second. Taylor says: “Well, we DON’T want the kinds of people that come from repressive terrorist regimes…” Colleague says: “You mean, the people most likely to need somewhere safe to flee to?”
Bad immigrants.
My @smh cartoon.
So The Nationals are going to lose staff and money and resources after Littleprouds dummy spit and Littleproud is now desperately begging Albo not to do that.
Who knew actions had consequences 🤔 #auspol
Nationals now calling another emergency party room meeting. Whole bunch threatening to resign, demanding the Coalition end. Australians are the biggest losers from these terrible hate group laws, but the political instincts of Ley and her team are almost unmatched for grasping stupidity
Unbelievable. I told the Sky News guy to fuck off with his questions and now *that* is the story.
This hungry beast is insatiable.
How’s that Royal Commission into Murdoch media going?
❤️
From Dutton says to Frydenburg says…(sighs)
Grass roots.
My @smh cartoon.
Remember, Ley & news.corp et al aren't talking to you, or even about you. They're screaming at each other & mistaking the echo as a response.
Most Australians want to honour the victims, have stronger gun laws and to get on with their holidays in peace free of unhinged ranting (relatives excepted).
The Coalition has mistaken the unity it has found as a party and like minded political bedfellows over its response for actual unity. Its feverish rhetoric comes from the brief cohesiveness it’s discovered after so many fractures, rather than an organic groundswell. It also will not hold.
Dr Monique Ryan says the Coalition has finally given Business the Certainty it needs by pulling out of Net Zero
Ryan “They’ll have the certainty that they won’t have to deal with the LNP in government any time soon as a result of this decision today.” 🤣👏 #Abc
We reap what Howard sowed, over and over again
Two scenes. Scene 1: man beside corpse wrapped for burial with PRESS flak jacket on top, Netanyahu on other side. Man says, “Why did you kill him?”.Netanyahu replies, “Because he was Hamas.” Scene 2: same set up, man says, “How do you know he was Hamas?” Netanyahu says, “Because we killed him.”
Killing journalists.
My @smh cartoon.
Raf Epstein rips into “friends & colleagues” in the media for not asking “whether or not what Israel is doing is illegal” in Iran & “not even asking questions about what the intelligence is”
Phil Coorey “I don’t think they care”
Epstein “But that’s the problem!”💥 #ABCInsiders
NEW: A YouGov poll for next year's South Australian state election shows Labor winning in a landslide, leading the Liberals a whopping 67-33 of the statewide two-party-preferred vote
A uniform 2PP swing would see opposition leader Vincent Tarzia lose his seat of Hartley
Tinderbox political meeting app. @theage
Isn’t it marvellous seeing what our nation’s closest friends and allies got up to while we were sleeping?
The attempt to change super tax concessions has worried the extremely wealthy that people will realise just how rigged the system is in their favour. And they worry it might finally be the start of attempts to address the growing wealth inequality in this country

Single frame. Californian street scene with, on right, angry protesters marching towards us with signs “ICE GET OUT” “NO TO TRUMP” “NO TO ICE ARRESTS” “DUE PROCESS” “THOS OS FASCISM” and a Mexican flag. On right, angry Trump throwing a Molotov cocktail marked “NATIONAL GUARD”.
Inflammatory.
My @smh cartoon.
Scott Morrison is the classic ‘participation award’ kid…so woke
Single frame. Orange sunset sky, vultures circling, desert scene with downstage left dinosaur skeleton; upstage right two chesterfields with two balding old blokes drinking brandy. One says: “So I said, ‘You ladies don’t need special quotas - you’re assertive enough!’ Just joking of course…”
What women problem?
My @smh @theage cartoon.
Super Decibel scales.
Interesting developments in QLD.
The LNP are chipping away at judiciary independence that Labor created in 2015, allowing govt involvement in selection of judges
This could hve a direct impact on reshaping electorates
Are the LNP attempting to gerrymander?

I've been playing with sankey charts to see how seats in the lower house have been changing over time.
It's interesting to see the double defeat of the Coalition over two cycles and how big a mountain it is for them to return to power caseybriggs.substack.com/p/australias...
No tax on tips? Cool. Now make companies pay a living wage so rent doesn’t hinge on someone’s mood after a burger.
Strong signal of less trumpiness, will be seen as treason at Murdoch HQ
The Australian Electoral Commission has agreed to conduct a partial recount in Goldstein.
The recount will look at first preference ballot papers for myself and Tim Wilson, and all informal ballot papers.
I will be making no further comment until the process is complete.
The Liberals have spent 20 years focusing their election campaigns on culture warring and fear mongering against Labor. This is because they do not have any ideological interest in policies that are good for the masses - they only serve a narrow elite constituency. This is the elephant in the room.
Zoe Daniel has requested a recount in #Goldstein in part citing the unusual count fluctuations we have seen in recent days. The Returning Officer will rule on the request and if the request is rejected she can appeal to the Electoral Commissioner.
