Alex Horne: ...Do you want to take a look at Sisyphus' attempt?
Greg Davies: Impress your mother? Seems like a nice wholesome task for a Channel 4 light entertainment show. Surely nobody did something that can never be taken back?
Alex Horne: Letβs see how Oedipus did
On @virginmedianews.bsky.social today we look at the impact of climate change on communities.
Following a deadly flood - that saw more than 130 people killed - 1,000+ people were marked to leave the village their families lived in for generations.
The fabric of communities in Rwanda is being torn.
We officially launched our Galway West by-election campaign over the weekend.
In MΓde Nic Fhionnlaoich we have an exceptional candidate - one who will fight tirelessly for a Galway that works for everyone.
The DΓ‘il needs more women like MΓde
Let's get her there!

As an academic born and raised in Denmark who researches and writes about Danish politics, I can confidently say that Cowley has no idea what heβs talking about. The piece is full of factual errors and falsehoods

I was delighted to show my support for MΓde at her campaign launch for the Galway-West by-election. Her passion for protecting and supporting Gaeltacht communities was especially moving. I can't think of a better successor to Catherine Connolly for the people of Galway. #spΓ©irgorm

An all-time record high: FF/FG homeless figures continue to soar. 17,112 homeless February 2026
17,112 people homeless, the highest level of in the history of the state. Not just numbers, real people, real lives.
That's why you don't base observations on a single poll, you look at sequences of polls over a period of time.
POLL: Sunday Independent/Ireland Thinks
(Feb 27, MoE 2.8%)
Sinn FΓ©in 22 (+2 in four weeks)
Fianna FΓ‘il 18
Fine Gael 17 (-1)
Social Democrats 11 (+1)
AontΓΊΒ 6
Ind Ireland 5 (-1)
Labour 4
Greens 4 (+1)
PBP-Solidarity 3 (+1)
Inds/others 11
SF - 22%, up 2% from previous poll. FG - 17%, down 1% from previous poll. Social Democrats - 11%, up 1% from previous poll. FF - 18%, (no change) AontΓΊ - 6% Independent Ireland - 5%, down 1%. Labour Party - 4%, no change. Solidarity-PBP - 3%, down 1%. Independents/Others - 11%, unchanged
Not shown on the graph, but fwiw the Greens are up to 4%, a 1% increase from the previous poll.
Look, maybe I am already just in a bad mood, but it is ludicrous to me that we are having a really intense argument about sectarian voting when there isn't really that much evidence that it was why the Greens won. This is immediately just accepted wisdom, and we can scold using it.

I mean, unless the polling continues to move at the same rate as it has, and the media don't find a weakness in Polanski's armour these next few years...once they get past their absolutely inability to comprehend the level that the Greens are operating on.
Honestly, I have not followed much of UK politics that closely, because I am so sick of the UK Labour Party under Starmer - bunch of spineless gobshites, thriving on lies and cruelty.
I don't think it is realistic to expect the Greens to be able to fully supplant Labour in 2029, but they deserve to

Yes, if you are in that room, it is very possible to build that knowledge and context within that room to ensure that misunderstandings don't esculate.
But we live in an environment where small clips can explode virally and far eclipse any effort to contextualise the situation. That's our reality.
"the [P]alestine one was intentional"....and? So what? If it was a call to Free Ukraine, that would not have been censored, let's be real.
The problem with just broadcasting the Davidson incident is that it's basically impossible to prevent it been used out of context, which harms everyone imvolved
I mean, it doesn't help that, in the same broadcast, they reacted to someone mentioning Palestine.
Minor suggestion - maybe at least commit to publishing at least ONE article about literally any of his opponents to every one millionth article that is nothing but some middle class journo hand wringing about "the Monk".
Demonstrate some actual responsibility, no?
"Is Gerry Hutch being turned into a celebrity?", screams headlines in national papers and media organisations that devout massively disproportionate coverage to Gerry Hutch compared to anyone running against him.
And then do *shocked Pikachu face* if that results in him gettimg more votes. Pathetic
Being blunt, I think the load of articles been published by supposedly agonised columnists about Gerry Hutch - at the expense of literally any other Dublin Central candidate - is probably doing more to promote his electoral profile than just some play in the Ambassador Theatre.
Yes, the journalist doesn't write the headlines, there is public interest in interrogating Gerry Hutch's candidacy, but for the love of God, it would be good if more of the media showed some self-awareness about the role they themselves are playing here.

"If weβre angry with Pelicot, sheβs angry right back. The worst thing about being a victim, she writes, is being lectured β by her children, by court psychologists, by the press β that thereβs a right and wrong way to do it. How dare we, she implies, and of course she is right."
Everything Dan Ennis does, he does it with enormous heart. π Proud every day to call him a friend, even prouder still to see the work he does across the community.
Politics needs more people like Daniel at the highest levels- Letβs move mountains to see him win the bye-election in Dublin Central. π
