This ranks among my favorite things I've gotten to do because of this channel (which is saying a lot). Really, really cool chat with Kurt. If you're not inspired by this... I just don't know what to tell you.

I expect you to be signing at the event on the 12th.
PRO! This is the first page of Kurt Wimmer's EDWIN A. SALT, which later became SALT when the torch passed from Tom Cruise to Angelina Jolie for the starring role.
Kurt's appearing on the ol' youtube channel next week for an episode of One Scene. It was amazing and you're gonna love it.
We'll find out...
Is this page written by a pro or aspiring screenwriter? Guess in the comments and I'll share the answer tomorrow...

Gonna report this due to malicious accuracy.
He's a classic robber baron. Got rich stepping on a lot of heads and doing a lot of evil. Tried to rewrite his history by doing a few things that were objectively good. Does that absolve him of his sins? No. Will the history books say it did? ...I hope not.
Deadline is tonight!
Are you a screenwriter who wants to see how they stack up against a pro?

I appreciate you sharing!
Right, but I need to read one of these and the signed one has to remain immaculate.
Consider the beer bought.
Damn, so if I want to buy a spare to get a signed first edition I gotta act now?
Also, this is wild, dude. Congratulations.

All good!
We have a good amount in the hopper, but it's always hard to know how many episodes that'll support. Sometimes it takes reading 20 or more pages to find just one that we think will work. Sometimes it takes like three.
Side note -- I did see that you'd submitted one but I don't think any of us have read it yet. Once we read one, we make a decision about it on the spot, because if I've read one and passed on it, that makes it impossible for Jason to use it, since I'll have read it already.
Amateur subs go into a spreadsheet and the three of us use that to find pages, reading through them in a somewhat haphazard fashion until we find enough that we think could come across as pros for an episode.
For pro scripts... like 90% is us abusing friendships. The rest reach out and offer.
Nothing would make me happier than to give you credit for that... had you been, you know, correct.
Also, I just realized I fucked up tagging Tim so now I'm gonna do it here. @tftalbott23.bsky.social
Ha - I hear you. But some pretty incredible writers have gone 1/4 on this show before. It can be tough!
The main reason I like mixing it up is because it forces a different perspective that usually results in discussing different points -- and therefore (hopefully) makes it more educational.
Coming up soon! Probably on Thursday? Depends how fast I can crank this edit out. This was a fun one, though... you're not gonna want to miss it.
