The Constitution says:

Under the War Powers Act of 1973, the president must gain approval from Congress to deploy armed forces abroad except in circumstances where the country has been attacked or faces an imminent threat of hostilities.(Bloomberg).

Shocking! The Senate just voted 53-47 in support of Trump's war in Iran. Rand Paul was the only Republican to oppose the war. John Fetterman was the only Democrat to support Trump. Senate just gave away another of its Constitutional powers. Trump need not get Congress' approval to start a major war.
