One of my favorite things is getting to tell friends who are new to NYC that the subway "stand clear of the closing doors please" voice is a trans woman named Bernie Wagenblast and she's amazing.
> Grambo is chatty and gregarious. He curses a lot, and he knows it. At times, he seems to get overwhelmed and loses his train of thought.
I like this guy. Love that he rocks a scooter too.
Everything we care about, from the cost of groceries to the character of our republic, will be affected by decisions that are happening at the ballot box today.
So if you care, make sure you vote!
Thank you!
Dynamo lights are awesome. I had some simple flashers on my commuter a number of years ago that eventually broke, but it was so nice to know they'd always be on.
I was skeptical on electric shifting, but after getting it on a new road bike about a year ago, I'm a total convert. Incredibly smooth and easy to control with a light touch. My battery died on one ride and I haven't forgotten to charge it since 😅
A few years ago I refactored some complex code and had some ideas about how the design could evolve to give us some performance benefits. That vision was finally realized last week and it did indeed pay off. Things don't always go the way you think they will, but it sure is fun when they do.
It kinda reminds me of the Tesla logo 🤮

Thanks for sharing.
I'm really curious about how you measure your productivity. Would you be willing to share some detail about that?
In case you missed it—you can now add your Canva graphics directly into Kit.

3d printed 2x2 gridfinity case closed.
3d printed 2x2 gridfinity case opened.
First gridfinity case print! Went with a smaller one to start. Smooth sailing for the most part. I had to drill out one of the hinges to get the filament through it. The interior bin is not the right size but fits nicely.
Cool! I hope you'll share some photos. Happy birthday too! 🎉
I'm going to try making one of these cases: www.printables.com/model/894202... I've made a couple of the bins so far, I'm very slow. I found this one via an amazing article that I haven't had time to fully read 😂 blog.rahix.de/design-for-3... What about you??
I've been having fun with a very basic 3D printer and just discovered gridfinity last week. So fun! I want to print it all!
I’m working with a coach for the first time in… decades 😂 I’m more excited than terrified but just barely. Structured workouts aren’t my favorite thing but I know they’ll be beneficial. 🤞
I'm afraid I don't, but I'd absolutely buy one if it was available again.
What's the one thing you wish Kit did that it doesn't currently do?
Forgot to add alt text. Swim cap torn into two pieces.
When your swim starts on a sour note right before you get in the water. 😂 It’s been a long week.
Delegating method calls makes it harder to see where deep chaining happens and makes it easier for that chaining to spread. Eventually you may realize that in some cases you go from A to B to C only to go back to A again. #rubyrant
..this is my biggest complaint: it makes it harder to identify roles and concepts that might be formalized to improve the overall design.
I also don't see the value in organizing the code in this way. 🤷
There's a common pattern I see in rails apps that I've never liked, replacing a single line of code with a private method that "tells a story" about what's happening. It requires jumping back and forth between the block of code and private methods to understand what's actually happening, and..
Seems like forever since I've done any front-end work. This was a very small feature, but it was fun to dig back in and be able to "see" the output of a project.

Great week in Puerto Vallarta with the @kit.com crew! We’ve been doing retreats twice a year since… 2017? This was the first time we did “create week” (aka hackathon) and it was a hit.
