Two bishops travel to Rome to fulfill Edward the Confessor's promise to go on pilgrimage. There is a large boat with two bishops at the bow watching over the others on the boat. There are two rowers, one on each side, and a helmsman at the back steering the boat. The boat's sail is raised and it has a cross on it. In addition to the two bishops, two rowers and helmsman, there are at least nine other people on the boat. Beside the large boat is a smaller boat with one person rowing it. In front of them all, perched on land, is a bird, who is watching everything. The water is green and the boat is wooden. The people on the boat are wearing cloaks and tunics in a variety of colours, such as blue, green and orange.

Today I finished cataloguing the #Scoresby boxes at Whitby #Archives! I've measured, researched and recorded over 240 letters, prints, maps, scientific diagrams and bits of paper cut into the shape of whales. The last thing I catalogued? A massive map of the North-West Passage.

Next year Göttingen will celebrate his 250th birthday with a year full of exhibitions and events at the original sites where Gauß lived and worked. So 2027 may be a good year to consider a trip.

Please support the petition against the planned #closure of #Archaeology at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
Archaeology has been a part of Humboldt-Universität academic tradition for almost 200 years, so closing it would break a long-standing research tradition

Just had to grade a bunch of students' tasks; the whole spectrum from 20 page essay via source description down to a session protocol was infested by these pompous-but-meaningless ai-phrases explaing to me in this pretentious tone how the medieval world was. I am between disgust and paranoia atm.

Y’all. I’m at wits end. The lack of reading (let alone being able to read for anything beyond content). How are you handling this? How do we do our jobs? Do we have to just teach … reading now? Literacy? Content comprehension?

They will learn to enjoy it, for sure. After I first heard about Brehon law and those peculiar cases from Dáibhí Ó Cróinín in Galway some 20 years ago, it stuck with me ever since. Never forgot the king-stinging bees.
