Yes and also should a climate disaster strike research and experience shows that local small businesses are a key part of the recovery, so you are investing in resilience too!!

Yes! β€œPassive survivability” is much increased when a building is skillfully weatherized.

This is an amazing and, in my experience, almost entirely unappreciated benefit of electric vehicles that have vehicle-to-load or -home capabilities. (Most have V2L but few have V2H today.) EV companies should cultivate this capability and hit it much harder in their advertising.

Add Pennsylvania to the list of states with a credible accounting of how disastrous dedication to market fundamentalism has been.

We talked about this in our Overcharged report: climateandcommunity.org/research/ove...

Ugh. β€œMississippi residents who say they were sickened by toxic emissions from bioenergy giant Drax face painful setbacks: an increased pollution quota for Drax & uncertainty about whether a key federally funded study will provide any answers”

Are Wood Pellets Worth Billions In Subsidies? Drax Faces A Reckoning Policymakers are rethinking biomass as new research shows wood pellets may increase carbon emissions rather than reduce them. The focus is now on subsidies.

β€œAdding wood pellets to the combustion process was well-intentionedβ€”to clean coal [as] the leading method of electricity generation. [Changes since then:] sharp drop in wind & solar prices, new studies showing that the pellets did not fulfill their promises.” #biomass

This:
β€œregulatory frameworks were not designed for the speed, scale and complexity of today, and that mismatch creates an opportunity to fundamentally rethink how regulation works, not just how we respond to individual problems.β€œ

She lost her school to a wildfire. What she saved was more important. When the Eaton Fire destroyed Pasadena Rosebud Academy, its executive director focused on keeping her students engaged and her community intact, even without a campus.

One thing we are focusing on @multisolving.bsky.social these days are Seeds for the Future, examples of people/ communities meeting destabilization by building life sustaining futures. More soon about the project, but for now, this strikes me as an example. 19thnews.org/2026/01/eato...

Anyone on here live in Brooklyn and participate in Con Ed's "Smart usage partner" program? (basically a demand response program)? Curious which partner you went with and about your experience!

Welcome to another day where the failures of the dominant system are apparent & existentially threatening but the infrastructure of life sustaining societies is fragile or yet to be created. Keeping building anyway. And give yourself some grace for the contradictions inherent in this stage of things
