As cool as it is to get a shoutout from Evil Martians (big fan!) I am unfortunately a different Peter Phillips that is also a ruby developer π

I owned the One Pros for a few months before ultimately selling them. Got the best option (pros) with the hopes of using them for programming on the go. It certainly works, but I found that in nearly all situations I would just prefer using the screen on my laptop. Better image with less hassle.
Thatβs a fair point
Also, I donβt think I agree with your reasoning to not sign the letter. I view it as attending a digital protest. itβs about sending a message that there are a lot of us who are unhappy with DHHβs leadership. I think adding to that signal is worthwhile regardless of the fork ever actually happening
Joel how close are we to a point where yippee could be contributed to by others outside the core team of you and Stephen? I think youβre right we need an alternative framework. I bet a lot of people would wanna help build one!
If you did an obituary on Charlie Kirk that was just quoting directly in context what he was most proud of saying and doing, a lot of editors would say to revise it because it would read as being mean to a dead man
Somehow worse than just saying βSlytherinβ
Whoah nice!
Having consistent lighting at all times of day for video content is huge (I have no such place in my home haha)
This is awesome!
Is that light meant to replicate the sun shining through a window? Looks very close to me eye.

Read this as part of a book club. It didnβt quite land for me personally, mostly because the formula for each chapter became too repetitive. But we had a great discussion around it actually so I have no regrets!
You could try Writebookβs source code. Probably has a bunch of stimulus controllers in it.
This seems like an odd comparison to me (sprinkles vs reactive component framework) but Iβm curious to see it regardless
Our carbon footprints sure as shit ainβt the same
2024: shhh donβt tell anyone but Iβm using AI to help me write some code
2025: shhh donβt tell anyone but Iβm not using AI to help me write any code
Audiobooks are great because they satisfy the part of me that wants to stay up doing things I enjoy while also putting me to sleep (which is what I actually need)
A chessboard with only 9 spaces and a knight placed in its center.

My latest #rails project is probably the most fun Iβve ever had programming. And also one of the most challenging/ambitious projects Iβve ever undertaken. Will hopefully write some words somewhere on the internet about it soon-ish
There was a period of my life where I did a lot of surfing (mostly in the Outer Banks) and really loved it. Now as a developer, I sometimes find myself thinking about what life might look like if AI renders my job obsoleteβ¦ and I mostly just hope it involves surfing more again π
The White House are such big Star Wars fans that they gave Trump a red lightsaber while trying to claim he's the good guy.
This is a good strategy - hand-roll tests and observability so you can understand what your app is doing. This is a good practice always regardless of AI.
But it does result in yet another fun thing AI is taking away from us. I like writing code a lot more than testing or setting up DataDog e.g.
I just backed Neuroscape: A Cyberpunk TCG on Kickstarter www.kickstarter.com/projects/neu...

I see Apple un-disabled Apple Intelligence for me with this latest update how kind of them
congrats to canada but also it seems a little unfair that you guys wonβt ever elect an evil fascist demagogue to shock US into voting for a liberal
lol true!
π‘ I feel like having a local (ie. completely offline) LLM would be insanely valuable in basically any survival/doomsday situation. Near-instantaneous advice for any predicament you could find yourself in.

I wish editors were more integrated with this. My preference would be
private
def foo
But it would be cool if everything below the "private line" could be colorized differently somehow. Maybe a different background or something.
