Word of the day, for the umpteenth time, is ‘apricate’, the sister of ‘apricity’. It means to bask in the warmth of the sun, especially on a chilly day.
Word of the Day is ‘quockerwodger’ (19th century): a puppet individual whose strings are pulled entirely by someone else.
New semester. New students. Shared one of my fave quotes from Sara Ahmed (via Butler) "it is through the repetition of norms that worlds materialise, and that 'boundary, fixity and surface' are produced'. Heads nodded and no one said it was wordy. That's a hopeful start!
Taught a class called 'Bizarre Objects' this semester. On hallucination, thinking and creativity. Explored audio-visual culture's long history of navigating new/turbulent experience (photog, painting, AI etc). Made a diff to student perspective on ethics debate
