Thank you!
Thank you!
Trying out #GoboSocial toolset that launched on #Fediforum... Β So far impressed with the mix of simplicity and customiztion for posting across Mastodon and Bluesky at once. Not yet sure how it helps with charcter limits, but nice work,Β @chandrn.bsky.social
On the first episode of my new podcast, Hucklemelon, I ask three tech policy experts if we could use YouTube, TikTok, Twitter, and all the other social media platforms with their algorithms turned off, and a new marketplace of alternative curators turned on: hucklemelon.org
Is digital public infrastructure like roads, an essential infrastructure that others can build businesses on? Or like radio, which makes an informed citizenry possible and is a backbone of democracy? Smart, thoughtful essay engages with some of my work: www.techpolicy.press/what-is-digi...
Thanks! We like them too. They are from a project we did with @ethanz.bsky.social and @chandrn.bsky.social, An Illustrated Field to Social Media.

Mila Samdub and @chandrn.bsky.social disentangle two prominent but very different visions of digital public infrastructure (DPI): DPI as roads, and DPI as radio.
What would qualify as a real dark mode for you?
We haven't gotten around to explaining/documenting threadpoints in the UI yet, so definitely understand why it was confusing. Could you share what other interaction areas you found confusing or buggy?
That's a new feature we've been working on that we're calling "threadpoints." It allows you to create multi-platform threads by marking in your text where a new reply should begin for each platform. So in your screenshot, you're composing a five post Mastodon thread.
any questions, thoughts, or feedback? would love to hear it

definitely! you should have access now.
Great! You should have access now.
Appreciate it! We donβt have docs yet, but if youβd like to play around with the app, would be happy to add you to our private beta. Just create an account and I can get you set up.
If someone reacts/comments on one of your posts on a federated service, you can see the notification (we aggregate your notifications) and respond on Gobo!
You do need accounts on the different services you want to interact with. But we present those accounts in a unified interface that makes interacting across services much easier. This lessens the need for placeholder bridge accounts.
gobo.social might be able to solve your problem! Weβre a client that aggregates and cross-posts to Bluesky, Mastodon, and more. Itβs really useful for managing multiple accounts across platforms. Weβre still adding folks to our private betaβif youβre interested, please reach out.

With my brilliant friends at the Knight First Amendment Institute, I filed suit against Meta today, asking a federal court to find that CDA section 230 gives users rights to control what they see on social media via third party tools. See our complaint at: knightcolumbia.org/cases/zucker... .
For the next few months, @chandrn.bsky.social and @ethanz.bsky.social are sharing drafts of every chapter in their upcoming "Field Guide to Social Media" on MIT Press. It's a really special project, and we want to invite all of you to take part by telling us what you think in each draft's comments.
Gobo might be able to help, at least with Bluesky and Mastodon (and hopefully Threads sometime this summer): gobo.social. Would be happy to get you set up. (Gobo is an aggregator and cross-poster for open social media we're building @idpiumass.bsky.social)
Happy to give you private beta access to @idpiumass.bsky.social new tool, Gobo. We handle Bluesky threads intuitively and let you aggregate and cross-post to Mastodon, Bluesky, and Reddit.
If you head over to gobo.social and create an account, I will give you access! Just send me an email (crajendranic@umass.edu) letting me know what email you create an account with.

We shipped notifications support for Gobo today! You can now post, read, react, and view your notificatons for Bluesky, Mastodon, and Reddit, all in one place. Message me if you're interested in joining our private beta. gobo.social
My colleague @chandrn.bsky.social _ has smart, practical ideas on how we can make data portable not just once, but on an ongoing, regular basis. I love his mix of policy prescriptions and practical, programmer "just do it"...
Thanks to @mchrisriley.com, Lisa Dusseault, Delara Derakhshani, Dan Yoder, and @freeformflow.com for helpful thoughts and feedback!
