More Patriot missiles used in Middle East in 3 days than in Ukraine since 2022, Zelensky says President Volodymyr Zelensky reiterated that Ukraine is ready to provide drone interceptors in exchange for missiles, though he did not specify which countries could be involved.

This is a fucking travesty.

“In just three days of fighting in the Middle East, more than 800 Patriot missiles were used — more than Ukraine has received throughout the entire Russian full-scale invasion.”

(A year’s worth of production or more, btw)

Why is the Korean economy SOOOOOO affected?

Because it imports more of its energy than almost any other country...

Energy investments of 2025 with and without fossils.
The EU is trying, but China is way ahead especially considering they also are the ones making most of the hardware.

That Time France Went "All Nuclear"
That Time France Went "All Nuclear" YouTube video by Asianometry

I wish Europe would invest into renewables, grid, storage, EVs, etc the same way France did with nuclear power after the 1970s oil shock. We invest, but is it enough?
The gas squeeze of 2022 should have been enough of a lesson to reduce the reliance on imported fossil fuels.

About 2 years ago, I had someone gush about Dubai with "you have so many amenities, you can get everything, ... If I want a bottle of water delivered at 2 in the morning, I just get it delivered".

My main takeaway was, they treat service workers like shit and that you can't drink the tap water🙃

Earlier today, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy issued a statement suggesting that the United States had requested assistance with anti-drone warfare. The statement, in full, is below.

I think a few items of context shedding some light on this should be read.

Again, a central reason we are here again now is because the <only> people who went to jail, even briefly, for Iran-Contra were low-level functionaries like this guy.

It gets worse since the spike in oil and gas price also means higher revenue for Russia

EU scrambles to defend Spain from Trump’s embargo menace President Donald Trump’s threat to cut all ties with Spain after it opposed his war on Iran again puts the bloc’s unity to the test.

🚨🚨Symbolically important that EU countries and EU institutions shore up support for #spain in the context of fear of trade retaliation from the #Trump regime. This should be self-evident but unity of EU here is under pressure. 🧵

Was expecting an F-4 or F-14 tbh, but I'm surprised Iranian pilots are willing to get into any plane at all.

The US Air force doesn't do "fair fights" if it can avoid them and seems IDF is the same

Good.
This also means the ship won't be able to generate any revenue on future trips.
With the Russian LNG fleet only having around 14 ships (as per your latest video) this is a significant loss.

Rough calcs...

The vessel plus cargo was likely valued at as much as $300,000,000

China unlikely to have paids for the cargo, so total loss to Russia.

This chart shows how much crude oil from the Gulf heads to China, with comparatively little to Europe (including the UK).

*However*, if you look at oil *products* – refined from crude – UK gets a QUARTER of its oil products imports from the Gulf, and in total 15% of oil products consumed.

Credible reports that ginormous Russian LNG (liquid natural gas) tanker Arctic Metagaz is on fire in Mediterranean. Reports suggest it was hit be a USV (uncrewed surface vessel)

Whether Iran linked or Ukraine, very big implications for Russian war effort

The expected lifetime earnings for many of these men are lower than the recruitment bonus and death payment.
As such, they are often even pressured by their families to sign up and go die in Ukraine.

The situation is horrible, but still very different for Russians than it is for Ukrainians.

I assume that similar to Finland, including countries directly bordering Russia (besides Kaliningrad) is deemed too provoking.
However, this still is a great step forward.

The increased use of western interceptors on the other hand will definitely make it more difficult to keep Ukrainian air defences (and others) supplied.

Strategically it’s incredibly clever the EU is eroding the key levers of the green transition.

As a net oil and gas importer being susceptible to repeated geopolitical supply and terms of trade shocks is just such a great place to be.

Somewhat similar to Ukrainian refugees setting up "points of Invincibility" with chargers and tea in Berlin during the multi day blackout at the beginning of this year.
