I’d digitally sculpted and 3D printed these guys a while ago, but only recently actually had the time to paint these lil guys, and they turned out gorgeous. I had fun experimenting with opaque painting and airbrushing while leaving some areas of the filaments’ colors exposed.

It’s a litter of Hainu pups! 🐕🪽Hainu are winged Shiba Inus from Japanese mythology.

While on the trip I also binged Adrian Tchaicovsky’s Dogs of War, which I recommend to fans of animals and cyberpunk, and finished Brandon Sanderson’s novella The Emperor’s Soul.

In Colorado we hung out with family and got to check out the Cave of the Winds, The Dinosaur Resource Center, the Garden of the Gods, and the Colorado Wolf Sanctuary where I saw THE FATTEST FOX I have ever seen in my life. They claimed it was all fluff from his winter coat.

I got to see Sue, the largest and most complete T. Rex skeleton in the world, and the Tsavo lions, and infamous pair of man-eating lions who were the subject of the film The Ghost and the Darkness starring Val Kilmer and Micheal Douglas.

We had a layover in Chicago, and we had just enough time for Nathan to get a slice of Chicago deep dish (aka pizza blasphemy) and briefly visit the Field Natural History Museum where I got to check off two bucket list items—
