Uploading Pirated Books via BitTorrent Qualifies as Fair Use, Meta Argues * TorrentFreak
In an ongoing lawsuit, Meta now argues that uploading pirated books to strangers via BitTorrent qualifies as fair use.
In 2013 Aaron Swartz committed suicide for facing 35 years in prison for mass downloading scientific articles.
13 years later, Meta is almost getting away with an infraction orders of magnitude larger.
The law didn't change.

I think the biggest damage to the art community was the obsolescence of gallery sites (y!, deviantart, etc) and the rise of scroll-by social media, like twitter and even tumblr. Art is not ''content'', you shouldnt need to post art every day (or every month!) to be relevant. This mindset sucks.

ICO writes to Meta over 'concerning' AI smart glasses report
Videos, including of glasses-wearers using the toilet or having sex, are sometimes reviewed by a Kenya-based subcontractor.
Last year when I was checking into a hotel, the desk person was wearing Meta glasses. I kindly asked them to take them off. They were annoyed. I said, βI do not consent to you looking at my credit card and ID with Meta glasses on.β My instincts were correct: www.bbc.com/news/article...

What I love about this is it exists not only as a useful resource written by a slew of stupidly smart people but it started due to someone saying something incredibly stupid online.
So stupid it causes a book to be made in retaliation.
That alone should get you to buy it.

Yes.
These days, it's easier to set up Linux than it was in the past. There are also much easier ways to run Windows games on Linux.
It can be a little overwhelming at first, but there are more tutorials and resources for non-technical people to follow.

a dalmatian with small brown spots all over sits up and smiles up at you with a goofy open-mouthed grin and sparkling light brown eyes. he is wearing a white plush unicorn horn, and heβs balancing beautifully on one front paw. both his ears are inside-out, but he doesnβt have a care in the world.
This is Timmy. He's here to wish you a happy Tripawd Awareness Day, celebrated of course on 3/3. Itβs his lucky number. 14/10 (IG: jackson_the_dalmatian)

The year is 2027. All TV and movies are made by one company.
It makes exactly one movie or series a year and then immediately deletes it as a tax write-off before releasing it.
Somehow it employs only one person, who makes minimum wage, and still lays off half its employees each month.

I continue to be fascinated by the phenomenon whereby an expert engages with any of the LLMs on their field of expertise and is instantly horrified by the wrong answers, and then goes on to use it for things they are not experts in as though it wonβt be just as bad for those.

Photo of a piece of art on grass. The art is a painting or drawing with primarily orange , yellow, and red hues. It shows a man in profile facing right (Gilgamesh) with a beard. He is shouting, and a sideways stepped pyramid of cuneiform signs is emerging from his mouth like a speech bubble
Stumbled upon some gorgeous Gilgamesh art on r/Assyriology by Wiggy_111
