$1600 *per month*, that is
And let's not forget the co-pays, deductible, out of network costs, etc. and, oh yeah, all of the Americans who never had insurance in the first place or lost their coverage thanks to his attacks on the #ACA. Out of touch just doesn't even begin to cover it.
Trump wants to send med supplies because "many people" are sick & "not being taken care of." π
I think he got confused again. That's America you're thinking of, not Greenland.
My mom's premiums β¬οΈ by $1600 overnight thanks to his attacks on #ACA, & she's hardly alone.

We give a detailed accounting of the many strengths of this approach, but also share honest reflections on how we grappled with challenges. This has truly been one of the most joyful projects I've been privileged to be involved with!

Ok news media, let's be clear: Trump did not 'revoke' a scientific finding. He can revoke *policy* based on that finding, but he does *not* have the power to revoke scientific findings. These are not the same thing, and it's fairly important that you get this distinction right π€¦ββοΈ

The thing about scientific research is that itβs one of the few national investments thatβs a clear public good even if you entirely discount the actual ostensible point of it.

In today's edition of *Things NOT to Say to a Woman You Know Is Childfree*: 'You would be a great mom. I'm sure you mother people in your life in many ways.'
This may sound supportive, but actually it doubles down on the harmful and false notion that womanhood=motherhood.

Slide with a graph of the world's leading billionaires on the left (Elon Musk at the top with 328.5 billion) and some statistics to give context about what a billion means in practical terms on the right. The stats on the right are: $328.5 billion= ~Β£252.3 billion With $1 billion, it would take 548 years spending $5,000 (~Β£3,830) a day to run out of money Thatβs spending more than the average monthly wage in the UK (Β£3,185) every day If you saved $100/day (about $3k per month), it would take ~27,400 years to save $1 billion Musk alone could give $40 to every person on the planet And still have $1 billion leftβ¦ $327.5 billion/8.15 people=$40 per person
Just thought I'd share these stats from upcoming lecture:
With $1 billion, it would take 548 years spending $5,000 (~Β£3,830) a day to run out of money--thatβs > mean monthly wage in the UK (Β£3,185) every day.
Musk alone could give $40 to every person globally.. & still have $1 billion.

In the UK, facts are listed per 100g or 100ml. It's *so* much easier to compare labels! Amidst all the 'obesity epidemic' rhetoric in the US, where is the political action to regulate labels so they can be easily compared by consumers? This is an easy #PublicHealth win in waiting...
Sure, I can pull a calculator out & stand in the aisle endlessly calculating for every item I buy, but do I have the time and patience for that? No!
And, having the time for this of course corresponds to privilege. #HealthDisparities
Nutrition labels from 5 different boxes of crackers showing how variable the units for nutritional information can be.
If you want people to make #HealthyChoices, make it easy to do so.
In the US, it's very challenging to compare #NutritionFacts because label units aren't standardised. Take these cracker labels. Info is per 30g, 154g, 28g, 16g, & 14g. Which has the fewest calories per gram? Highest protein?
