RedNote is the best thing to happen to me all year. I know the year's only just begun but it has been absolute SHIT in just a short amount of time

I did the little test to see where I'm at skill wise, and I got started in section 2!
I am so glad I spent 4 years studying Chinese in high school, and 13 years later I am surprised at how much I remember.
Yes I did make a RedNote account, while scrolling tiktok I saw so many Chinese people from that app coming to over after feeling so welcome by the "tiktok refugees"
For me the best part of learning Spanish is getting to roll my R's. Trapped R's, soft rolls, hard trills, I love the sensation and it sounds so cool. I wish English had rolling R's.
Okay so a VPN doesn't even get you back into TikTok. I haven't used tiktok in over 6 months and yet I suddenly want to use it purely because an entire social media app, a method of global communication, has just been censored by our fucking government.

Btw I was top in my class for writing Chinese 4 years in a row and I stg my teacher never corrected me when I wrote ιwith the down line first.
I'm glad I took 4 years of Chinese in high school, cuz even though I sometimes forget how to pronounce kanji because I read it in Mandarin, 4 years of exclusively han zi prepared me for the discipline it takes to actually learn kanji.

It's a big stereotype that Germans love to complain... and out of the 3 languages I'm learning German is the ONLY one to have me translate so many customer complaints!

Whenever I'm struggling with Japanese on Duolingo and start thinking I'm not good enough to learn new languages, I change over to German or Spanish. I'm not stupid, Asian languages are just fucking hard to learn for a Germanic/Romance language native.
