We saw a lot of the runners while out on our MTB ride. The one on Strava you commented on.
There were obviously some very quick people out there. And some stragglers! ๐

Even the Telegraph managed to do a positive article about them!
Hostile Vehicle Mitigation.
aka, big fuck off bollards
This pops up on the Dunwich Dynamo FB page too. Half the people convinced they need a mobile disco on their seat post and telling anyone who dares complain to "just ride faster and get in front". ๐
Lime bikes too. Hire one late at night, the app makes you go through a reactions test to prove you're not drunk. Amazing the restrictions that can be put on bikes and scooters!
That bridge has been looking a bit crumbly for about 15 years. It occasionally gets taped off, nothing gets done and eventually bikers, walkers and horse riders get bored and open it all up again for another 3 years of incident-free access before the process repeats.
It's most useful in the countryside - recall and a short walk to heel while other walkers, cyclists, dogs etc pass by without constantly holding them or putting the lead back on.
Just one more lane will fix it...
Bradford looks incredible now outside the Interchange, I was amazed by the transformation when I went there a couple of weeks ago. ๐ฅ

Is that the one?
Oh there was, it was a modelling thing showcasing how smaller vehicles moving at steady speeds all got there quicker than SUVs, even when accounting for random traffic lights. Bear with me, will try and find it!
Can't do any of those things, that'd be a War on Drivers! Poor, hard-working drivers at that.
The same principle applies in transport. Autonomous vehicles! Hydrogen buses! Monorail! Flying taxis!
Meanwhile the basics of "can we please have some cycle lanes and a bus that runs more than once a fortnight?" gets no interest at all.
Good to see you at the start! I'll have a listen later to find out if "the speakers" get a mention.... ๐
I don't think you're missing much! ๐
Was the A556 ever "great" to start with? Maybe I missed a particularly spectacular section around Lostock Green or a top notch example of dual carriageway?
It's only about 15-20 mins longer by public transport as well! c2c trains then choices of bus/tube/DLR.
Apologies, auto copied your link in my reply somehow... ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
Yep, been firing up the dotwatcher every few hours!

Capacity along the Hope Valley line in terms of accommodating freight, stopping services (Northern) and faster non-stopping services (TPE & EMR) is the constraint. There simply isn't the headroom for additional stops. Capacity & platform availability at both Manchester and Sheffield is a factor too.
Had plans for similar. Didn't happen...
I cycle to work. Every single time I arrive, I get variations on:
"Did you ride in?"
"You rode all the way?"
"You mean you ride in every time?"
"You must be really fit"
"Isn't it quite dangerous?"
No-one ever asks this if you travel to work by car..
Something similar on a local FB group talking about how lovely a certain path was for walking and cycling, the flowers along it in springtime. Someone posted a link to its history - closed off to traffic in the mid 1950's, "the area's first LTN".
Predictable meltdown.
Clearly all that is needed is some encouragement. Seems to be the foundation of many active travel policies; a bit of encouragement and some vague handwaving about it being good for you.
E-gravel is amazing! Absolutely love the commuting opportunities that mine has opened up.
Public transport is all excellent. You can buy a 24hr or 72hr ticket which is valid on all buses and trams.
Check opening times for places on Sundays!
Most printers are able to withstand simple "print" instructions as a default so it shouldn't be too difficult to configure one that can withstand quantum attacks, lizard uprisings and meteorite strikes.
What's the betting that was AI generated...?!
Find SAS logo.
Job done.
Maybe they could take a look at the total overhaul of Manchester City Council building - 6yrs + for a building that's not even a quarter the size of Parliament.
A former boss of mine used to send me Word files to convert to PDF. Didn't matter how many times I demonstrated the "save as" option.
