The French translators of Lukรกcs's Aesthetics (Morbois and Fondu) did tremendous work. However, most of the index entries have incorrect page numbers. Seriously, even the original German edition (1963) and the Hungarian and Italian translations from the 1970s got the index numbers right.
In an excellent article, Adrian Blau (@adrianblau.bsky.social) compared the craft of the historian of political thought to detective work.
Seeing the superficial links some researchers establish between texts, "circumstantial evidence" seems a fitting term for certain flawed historical methods.
A quiet renaissance in studies of the young(est) Marx is underway. Iโm thinking of C. Barbour's and @mflohr.bsky.social 's close textual readings, coupled with brilliant contextualization, as well as @schuringa.bsky.social 's and T. Khurana's careful conceptual analyses of Marxโs works up to 1844.

Questions to critical theory people:
Has anyone written a history of the concept of "immanent critique/criticism" so far? Which thinker used the term first? Did Horkheimer or Adorno provide a clear definition of it in any of their works?
