This edition dates from 8 May 1926 and includes the Trades Union Congress' statement that the General Strike was an industrial dispute (rather than a revolutionary challenge to the constitution), information about the local situation, and a report on debates in the House of Commons.

#OtD 29 Jan 2024 6-year-old Hind Rajab and 6 of her relatives were attacked in Gaza by Israeli troops. Rajab survived and called an ambulance, which got permission from Israel to rescue her. Then troops killed the paramedics, and Rajab also died. stories.workingclasshistory.com/article/1545...

While yesterday marked the 102nd anniversary of the death of V. I. Lenin, today is the same anniversary year of the coming to power of the first Labour government led by J. R. MacDonald.
The two met for the first & only time in 1907 in a church in north London but, it seems, no words were exchanged.

But can't get my head round the argument (advanced in the article by the Labour chap L. MacDonald) that if you support the idea of the betterment of your own people, that somehow excludes you from supporting the betterment of those in other parts of the world??

I was one of the fortunate few invited to a celebration of his life in July 2006, where all present received a "lucky bag" full of an assortment of stickies & other bits & bobs.
What a truly unique individual he was. Sadly missed.
