On International Womenโ€™s Day itโ€™s great to remember that Grunya Sukhareva identified Autism before Kenner (100 years ago), identified that Autism presented regardless of sex, and that it is a spectrum.

Ancient stepwells brought back to life as India begins to run out of water Centuries-old wells restored to provide drinking water as parts of the country head towards โ€œday zeroโ€ when no water will be available

โ€˜India is famed for its stepwells โ€“ multi-storey structures built to provide access to groundwater, with steps and platforms descending to the water level. Thousands were built across the country near natural aquifersโ€ฆ mostly between the 11th and 18th centuries.โ€™

Few in this country have worked to promote the understanding of race and class as historical phenomena in Britain as long, or as well, as Catherine Hall.

None of it is a fad. It is all politics, in the hard, real sense.

Tourette syndrome activist John Davidson says Bafta told him โ€˜any swearing would be edited out of the broadcastโ€™ Davidson said he โ€˜canโ€™t begin to explain how upset and distraught I have beenโ€™ over slurs he shouted during the award ceremony โ€ข With N-word incident, Bafta has shot itself in the foot โ€ข Why the Baftas must pivot to broadcasting live John Davidson, the Tourette syndrome (TS) activist at the centre of the Baftas N-word controversy, says that Bafta and the BBC โ€œshould have been aware of what to expectโ€ from TS, and that he had been told that any offensive words would be removed. In an interview with Variety, Davidson said that Bafta had told him and the filmโ€™s backers StudioCanal โ€œthat any swearing would be edited out of the broadcastโ€. He said: โ€œI have made four documentaries with the BBC in the past, and feel that they should have been aware of what to expect from Touretteโ€™s and worked harder to prevent anything that I said โ€“ which, after all, was some 40 rows back from the stage โ€“ from being included in the broadcast.โ€ Continue reading...

BAFTA/BBC edited out a speech about Palestine before airing along with the word "piss", but allowed the racial slurs to be shot out to the public: have they apologized for that or explained who thought the n-word was less offensive than "piss off"?

24.02.2026 19:12 ๐Ÿ‘ 8 ๐Ÿ” 1 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

The BBC also failed significantly, and the cynical side of me would say deliberately since they'd edited out a pro Palestine message in the broadcast but allowed this slur to stay in, while surely knowing the fallout that it would create.
