@daspleto
Vertebrate Paleontologist, Herpetoculturist... Laboratory Manager/Field Crew Chief at Badlands Dinosaur Museum fossil prep, taphonomy, fieldwork, 3D imaging. Opinions my own Paleo Lab Manager, Dickinson Museum Center
Oh he's let me know a few times! π
My fully crewed lab at Badlands Dinosaur Museum! From left to right: BLM contractor Deanna Neff, volunteers Dr. CarrieLynn Reinhard, Stephen Yanez, Jon Zink, and Rodney Benz.
Landed back in Bismarck after #bostonmarathon25 and meeting some very important old dead people, wrangling witches at a gas station and romping around New Hampshire. Love the humble chaos of the northeast. Back into fossil action tomorrow (or tonight?)
Prosaurolophus sacrum collected from Jack's Bonebed last July. A public project cut open live on @paleontologizing.bsky.social appearing on my Twitch stream (www.twitch.tv/fossilprepar...)
Dinosaur Park Fm. Collected on public lands near Havre, MT administered by the US Bureau of Land Management.
Live at Dickinson Museum Center - about to stream prep of our articulated, opisthotonic tyrannosaur block... www.twitch.tv/fossilprepar...
I'm live on Twitch, come hang out! Letting people roll in... www.twitch.tv/fossilprepar...
New content! I recommend viewing at 1440p to get the crisp detail of the grains and optimal frame rate. This specimen was collected by permit on public lands administered by the United States Bureau of Land Management from Judithian strata near Havre, MT. Found by Jason French, July 2024.
I made this when I was 18 π
www.twitch.tv/fossilprepar... doin it now
Bout to go live, late night stream air abrading/scribing a beautiful Phareodus sp. (Green River Formation, US) under the scope.
Join me for a relaxing evening...
And change your clocks!

Have fun! Stream reupload with everything good and great with the spice of technical difficulties and social delays
Streaming LIVE from Dickinson Museum Center -preparing a Prosaurolophus sacrum from the Judith/Dinosaur Park Fm. A little experiment www.twitch.tv/fossilprepar...
Apologies for lack of scale bar. Couldn't find one within 3 feet of me
Mid-prep teaser specimen, Campanian turtle (Adocus sp.) from the Dinosaur Park fm, northern MT. Appears as an amorphous brown pillow.
Collected by Badlands Dinosaur Museum crew in 2024 on permit from public lands administered by the the Bureau of Land Management - Montana/Dakotas near Hinsdale, MT.
The second and most complete example of the alligatorid Albertachampsa sp. From the Judith River (Dinosaur Park) Fm., Havre, MT. I used advanced air abrasive and manual micropreparation techniques yielding a specimen that appears barely post mortem, despite millions of years of deep earth tenure
As finished on stream - scientifically prepared percoid Mioplosus labracoides - Green River Formation F-1 beds, Tynsky Quarry (Lewis Ranch) Kemmerer, WY.
Thanks for your support!!!
Watch me under the microscope and beyond as I prepare shale fossils (fish, stingrays, sharks, birds, etc). But mostly fish! Quick stream to lighten the mood. A bit noisier as my lab is more staffed tonight.

Reupload from last night. Had technical growing pains until about 34 minutes in. Live again tomorrow (Monday) at 7pm MT
A huge pleasure spending time sharing our program with you (speaking on Deanna's behalf as well). I look forward to navigating this Twitch stuff, really appreciate the support of you and your audience. This made our week!
Gonna attempt a Twitch stream of live fossil preparation w/Q&A - likely a short one Thursday night 8:45pm Mountain, then late night Saturday (11pm Mountain -). Look forward to a collab stream in coming months with @paleontologizing.bsky.social at his suggestion. If it all works...
The first in what I hope will be a weekly or biweekly stream. Generally lighthearted, but I don't mince words with my stance on the Laissez-faire prep standards endemic in our line of work. www.youtube.com/live/tcXoG-9...
