Falsely accused of eating pets, and worse, Haitians in Springfield have survived harassment, and now fear deportation. If the judge allows the temporary protected status to expire, people in this Ohio city believe it will be one of the next places that ICE officials will conduct mass deportations.
In one case, O’Brien testified that 11-year-old Jordan Brown would not benefit from rehabilitation in the juvenile justice system because he would not admit to committing the crime when the two spoke. The Pennsylvania Superior Court later threw out O’Brien’s testimony.
I think one especially important thing to pay attention to that we we report on in the above story, is how federal officials describe the incidents early on, and the cracks in those narratives that later emerge.
