High Court: proscription of #PalestineAction was unlawful.
Greens voted against proscription, so we welcome this.
Govt must now immediately end its authoritarian attacks on peaceful protest, and fully address its complicity in the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

Notice a ton of commercials pushing AI during last night's Super Bowl?
Here's why these companies are so eager to get you to adopt it in your life (hint: it's a bubble). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wxBHxpMFXA
Just in case anyone doubts that a Reform government would usher in a soggy mash of Trumpesque policies.
I'm the uber-woke net-zeroist rejoiner Morgan McSweeney warned you all about 😂
History repeating itself?
UKIP under Nigel Farage controlled Thanet Council and nearly bankrupt it.
Reform UK under Nigel Farage controls Worcestershire Council and it’s on the verge of bankruptcy.
Never trust Reform UK. Imagine a country run by them. We'd be bankrupt with Trussite policies.
Science funding cuts in the UK are expected to be a "devastasting blow" for physics research, affecting international projects such as particle detection experiments at CERN
A reminder that Reform's candidate for Gorton and Denton, Matt Goodwin, has still not explained what he meant by this claim that developments in genetic science will make younger generations more right wing as they understand the "inherent differences" between different groups
Epstein’s economic power among academics was made possible by a capitalist system that makes higher education dependent on the charity economy rather than a public good supported by taxing the rich
Truly the classic far right campaign - “vote for me because you hate the other guy. Neither you nor I care what my party policies are”
It's been fun seeing The Consultants lose their mind about how they don't get this ad, which is the coolest shit she's done yet.
(Also, yes, that's Matt Mercer, who I've come to learn since this ad dropped is more famous than Michael Jordan.)
We still have open postdoc positions in our group!

Congratulations to School of Computing lecturer @jonterhance.bsky.social who has been listed in International Year of Quantum Science and Technology's Quantum 100 👏

Possibly - or just the ludicrous ego it takes for someone to believe they've come up with a solution to it (typically alone, typically as a retired engineer/techbro) is
Congratulations to Jonte Hance from @computingnewcastle.bsky.social who has been recognised in the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology's Quantum 100 for his work in foundational and applied quantum science #WeAreNCL 👏

Deeply honoured to have been named one of the Quantum 100 for the UN'S International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ)! quantum2025.org/quantum-100/...
Ooh, good point - never realised that. Guess that's why we have to go "sk" rather than "sc" for skein, ski, skip, etc in English. Maybe it was George Lucas's attempt to get it to be pronounced with a french-style soft-s ç-sound, but without wanting to have to use diacritics?
It's the same as the "c" in "scene", or the first "c" in "science". By which I mean, English is weird and inconsistent 😂.
Very good points from Jess Wade @imperialcollegeldn.bsky.social on the risks caused by lack of diversity in quantum
Hello @springernature.com - you’ve just published another bit of nonsense in Scientific Reports 🙁
Really sorry to hear 😞

They seem to be doing perturbative quantum gravity à la perturbative QED, but saying that, because they remove the hats, it's classical. Despite still using virtual particles...
Wish I could say I was shocked, but here's the Labour government constraining the right to peaceful protest again...
'You can protest but only according to our rules. The rules are: you're not allowed to use any of the tactics that make protest effective.'
We’re pleased to see our report 'Physics Matters: Funding the Foundations of Growth' gaining strong media attention over the weekend:
