The running Sonic image is not the original art. Was just a high quality print that had been made from a transparency. Directly confirmed with Wray that he did each of those spot illustrations (4 total: standing Sonic, running Sonic, and two jumping sonics). Originals are all MIA and not with Wray

Oh! I don't think I had seen this more crowded version of the poster before. I'm just used to the more simple poster which also got reused (maybe modified) for the NES game

I've always liked Michael Kaluta's art! It's a cool aesthetic, would have liked to see him do some video game work

Love getting to see some of your originals from the 90s! The SP cover art original looks great and has indeed held up well πŸ˜€

Recent images from a Capcom Exhibition in Tokyo have helped confirm that the European NES box arts for Mega Man 1 and 2 were by a Japanese artist (rather than someone in Europe); the artist's identity unfortunately continues to remain a mystery

If this FFIII image looks unfamiliar, that's because it was a β€œtry out” study Dev executed to sell Square, who wanted FFIII to look visually different from Breath of Fire, on what he had in mind. While a β€œlittle too edgy” it showed Dev could deliver the kind of illustrated look Square wanted

Back in January, illustrator Dev Madan shared on Facebook that he had sold his original paintings for the Super Nintendo package and advertising art for Final Fantasy III (the U.S. release of Final Fantasy VI): www.facebook.com/share/p/1DQz...

Vs. Gumshoe clean artwork by Stephen Peringer for the Nintendo Vs. System flyers in North America. Image depicts a oversized man's foot stepping on chewing gum that's attached to a diamond next to other diamonds. Other elements can bee seen such as a car, a shark, a rhino, a flying insect, a plane crashing, and a detective in a yellow coat and some glasses running. The background features a gradient of blue turning to white.

Of course, it's Fox's birthday, too! I've been lucky enough to do a few bits and bobs with Mr. McCloud over the years. The 1993 SP cel artwork is 33 years old, as well. It's still holding up with no yellowing or paint cracking.

I've also seen the box art credited to Peter Morawiec. Tony probably makes more sense, but how were you able to confirm this one?

@peachflavor3d.bsky.social, thanks to Dom's great research, it appears that Shinji Kubota is the artist for this Gunforce piece that we discussed a couple weeks back vgdensetsu.net/shinjikubota...

This art appears on the back of the Atlas game Majin Tensei for the Super Famicom. While Kazuma Kaneko was the art director for the game, I'm not sure if he did the package illustration. The illo has also been credited to Yasuhiro Kagami but I understand that he may have only painted the horned head

Larry Jost is the artist for both of these images and luckily the paintings themselves haven't been lost and are collector owned. It's just the brochures that are so obscure! We are finalizing an OVGA bio for Larry Jost and are just working out a few last details like this
