What a fantastic deal! Hapoy that he's gotten some security. For the last couple of years he's shown how dependable and coachable he is. And we desperately needed a forward of his kind in the rotation.

And there really has never been anyone this good shooting the ball in the NBA in their age-20 season.

And he has the upside to translate all those skills into a game-bending force.

I cannot wait to see his prime. I could be jumping the gun but he seems special.

Those heights are beyond unlikely (for Kon or anyone), but the stylistic and skillset blend is the closest I've seen since.

On-ball "juice" (handle, quickness & finishing) isn't the same. But well above a Klay Thompson, to use another all-time off-ball force (as is the passing).

The more I see of Kon Knueppel, the more there's really one player he reminds me of...

Some of the posts I'm seeing online about Deandre Ayton are funny because he's done nothing but be the exact same player he's been for years.

Now please, let's move on from this tanking panic and, to quote a great twitter account, find a new slant.

I am actually in favor of simplifying pick protections and capping the number of top 4 picks as well (details can be argued).

But this NBA office / NBA media obsession with tanking that has exploded, instead of worrying about actual big issues, strikes me as inorganical and deeply disingenuous.

Shit, I'd completely forgotten about the season length in a more physically demanding era, leading to more and more injuries. Is tanking worse than team's seasons ending on soft-tissue injuries?

(+ the buffoonery of the 65-game rule that only turns awards into worse historical records...)

How's the Kawhi Leonard investigation going btw? Any news on that? Cap circumvention I guess isn't that much of a concern.

I guess it's ok that Miles Bridges gets to be in video highlights because of his cool dunks but god forbid the Wizards, Jazz and Pacers tank for a couple of months when we all know they will be trying to win next season.... you know, as the cycle is meant to go.

What about the now recurrent mid-season change in rule enforcement? Because the NBA is trying to get away with boosting offenses every time they come back from a until there's backlash about how skewed those rules are. By February, it magically improves.

Look at what those same gambling partners are doing to the league. Look at the collusion between players and prediction markets, the push for betting in every single media space. That's what really undermines trust in the game.

I don't buy any of this "tanking outrage", sorry.

It's sad that important parity mechanisms are being second guessed for what seems to be the will of gambling companies.

There is a clear push for media connected to the NBA to foster a panic about the state of tanking.

Abolishing the draft for this 'rookie free agency' will, and I truly believe this, ruin the NBA. It's the end of anyone expect the big market, higher-revenue teams getting to be a part of the talent redistribution cycle (one of the most special things about the league).
