Me, pointing at the screen every time: THERE SHOULD BE A CHAPLAIN THERE.
Me, pointing at the screen every time: THERE SHOULD BE A CHAPLAIN THERE.
My brain suddenly turned on a couple of hours ago and I got a whole day's worth of work done. I think it was the nap that did it.
Me neither, but here it comes!
somehow Ash Wednesday is in 6 days! β
I signed up to be a paid supporter of @51st.news last week. With the news of the Post layoffs, I'm even more glad that I did.
Clergy being arrested and surrounded by police.
It appears several clergy were just arrested as they staged an anti-ICE protest in the Russell Rotunda in the U.S. Senate office building.
A number of faith leaders, who were in town urging Senators to vote against additional ICE funding, were led away by police: www.facebook.com/FIAnational/...
Really hard to look at this and all the other examples of bravery and kindness from ordinary people in this moment not think also of the tremendous cowardice exhibited over the past year by some of the richest, most well-protected people in business, media and politics
" I used to think I was different from the migrants I wrote about β protected by a passport, a salary, a press badge. But the past two years have stripped away that illusion." stevescherer.substack.com/p/my-journey...
Gonna have to update that pinned post
Congratulations on surviving. Some years are freaking impossible
Truly this is such a service you did for us. I recommend this video at least once a year to someone learning the exultet.
@scottagunn.bsky.social in all seriousness, I'm formerly of the online publishing world and would love to have a chat about developing this!
Hypothetical letter: I am a 1/2time priest at a small church in VA with ASA 40. We have a 2-4 children between 4 and 10 who come to services each week and pay someone a stipend to do children's ministry. But we're feeling a $ crunch and could put that money to adult classes. Shld we give up on kids?
I'm thinking about the kind that would answer (anonymized) letters. So perhaps a priest/bishop/very experienced lay person would respond to letters.
I would read the heck out of an advice column for clergy and/or church leadership. Looking at you, Episcopal News Service β
I don't really like to repost chain posts but this is the movie I've watched >6 times, probably the one I've watched most over the course of my life.
I brought my dog home 11 years ago today. Since then I've barely gotten out of bed without his encouragement. He deserves all the praise just for that.
Oh wow @reuters.com got the photo here:

today is the day I learn to spell Sadducees. β
UPDATE: Reached out to the Rev. Hannah Kardon, a United Methodist minister who was there that day and has been active in religious demonstrations at Broadview.
βThey are making it clear that they are scared of prayer β¦ it speaks the truth that what they are doing in that building is evil.β
What's the site you go to the most but don't have bookmarked? For me it's probably the Book of Common Prayer online. β
One of my clergy colleagues here in the Episcopal Diocese of Texas, who is employed by the State of Texas, has been detained by ICE. βοΈ
I took off work today to fight with the health insurance company. Hate that this is the world we live in!
NEW with @ruthreader.bsky.social: Nearly as many migrants have died in custody so far this year than over the 4 yrs of the Biden admin. ICE is hiring dozens more medical workers, but former insiders are skeptical the deaths will stop w/o more fundamental reforms. www.politico.com/news/2025/10...
LFG!
Google docs should list "page numbers" under the "insert" menu, not the "format" menu. That is all.
Some days the only way I can write a sermon is to set a timer for an hour and determine that I will only write, no editing, so I will have at least the vast majority of a sermon to revise at the end of the hour.
Great turnout at No Kings DC today!
