In the nucleus, many intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs) form condensates. What IDP sequence features drive this behavior? We developed CondenSeq, a high-throughput approach to measure nuclear condensate formation, and applied it to ~14,000 IDPs to find out!

Small proteins can be more complex than they look!
We know proteins fluctuate between different conformations- but by how much? How does it vary from protein to protein? Can highly stable domains have low stability segments? @ajrferrari.bsky.social experimentally tested >5,000 domains to find out!
Stellar line up for our protein design conference. Copenhagen, Sept 1-4, 2025. 10 days to abstract deadline. Get applying! benzon-foundation.dk/benzon-sympo...
A long-awaited nonopioid pain drug has won approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat moderate to severe short-term pain.
The variability across the 20 conformations in a typical NMR ensemble in the PDB represents the uncertainty from the lack of experimental data and not the dynamics of the protein in solution
Thanks for coming to my TED talk
How to make a presentation? Don't save the best for last! Right from the start, describe your main question and a summary of your big idea. Everyone is listening at those first few minutes but they'll only continue to listen if you grab their attention.
We have an exciting PhD position available. In collaboration with researchers @scripps.edu, we will investigate bacterial communication within the gut microbiome for potential health benefits, using chemical tools.
Deadline 9 February, see π

Figure from the paper that illustrates the approach of probing the transition state for amyloid growth by experiments and simulations
How do proteins mis-fold?
Paper led by Jacob Aunstrup from Alex BΓΌllβs lab with MD simulations by Abigail Barclay, and key contributions from several others. We combined measurements of Ξ¦-values with MD simulations to study the transition state for amyloid fibril growth

π¨ Revolutionising Snakebite Treatments with AI-Designed Proteins π
I'm proud to share our latest study published in hashtag#Nature, driven by Susana Vazquez Torres, and co-led by David Baker (Institute for Protein Design, University of Washington) and myself.
PhD opportunities (yes, plural!)
We will launch a center of excellence βPlat-PATHβ with @bjornppedersen.bsky.social this summer. We have an opening for some PhD students to work on plant hormone transporter mechanism.
