LA bound. Iβll be at the Illustrator booth all week during Adobe MAX. Come find me, say hi, and ask for stickers. I brought a ton.
If you're into typography, are just type-curious or even just love graphic design, art, or love the spirit of experimentation and curiosity, do yourself a favor and grab a ticket to inscript.tf
It started today but runs each morning through Sunday and you'll be able to watch recording afterwards.
NYC bound!
There's something about the detail, rigor, and making (and breaking) of systems in type design that hits all the right spots for me.
Not saying Iβm giving up on illustration, creative coding, or character design. But I do think I want to blend them together with explorations in type.
Made it to the weekend. Time to clean my first real font, Outpost Mono, so I can send to a few folks next week for some real world testing. Iβve fallen in love with type design, typography, and experimental type. I think this might me βmy thing.β
Lovart is just a poorly built front-end on ChatGPT. ChatGPT alone is faster & more interactive as a design partner.
Tried Lovart again now that's its launched. Very unimpressed. It was slow, gave me "ideas" scraped from Adobe Stock & Creative Market. At least they didn't try to hide the watermarks.
Oh. Hell. No.
Head meet desk.
Bloc Partyβs Tiny Desk Concert! Twenty years! Itβs been twenty years since Bloc Partyβs debut album Silent Alarm was released. This is probably the only time youβll run across the phrase βglockenspiel-forwardβ this week. [kottke.org]
Woot! Got tickets to see LCD Soundsystem this September.
Well, my newfound obsession with everything to do with typography has led me to the biography of Eric Gill, creator of Gill Sans. And I now know things I wish I could unknow. Oof.
I wrote about the day the president attended the opening of an American concentration camp:
In 80 seconds, AOC has completely dismantled the #BigUglyBill.
Dems should turn this into a prime time campaign ad NOW.
βThis Bill is a deal with the devilβπ₯

RIP Brian Wilson. Thank you for the magic of melody and creative expression.
Making art for Paige. I started yesterday on the anniversary of her death, but it was too hard. Iβm back at it today. She loved Labyrinth and had a βShould you need usβ tattoo. I thought Iβd draw the characters and make a poster for her. Hereβs the progress so far today.
Nothing like cozy lighting and some good IDM during a norβeaster.
Weβve got a lot of work ahead, and Iβm more excited than ever for whatβs coming.
Hereβs to continued community buildingβand a bold future for pro creative tools at Adobe.
Huge thanks to the Illustrator VIPs who joined us. Your openness, insights, and energy are everything.
As a designer at Adobe, I donβt just build features - I advocate for our users and work to ensure their voices are reflected in every decision we make.
Iβm back at work today, energized and inspired. Iβm bringing with me valuable feedback for the Illustrator team and important messages to share with our leaders.
Events like this are a powerful reminder of why community matters. Listeningβreally listeningβto our usersβ experiences is how we build better software and stronger relationships. Our products mean nothing without the people who use them.
But most importantly, we connectedβtalking about design, illustration, work, AI, community, and the future of Illustrator.
This past Friday, I had the privilege of attending the Adobe Illustrator VIP Community Summit in New York.
Together with my Adobe colleagues and Illustrator community VIPs, we spent the day immersed in product demos, collaborative discussions, and honest feedback sessions.
1000000000000% this.
A correction.
