you definitely arenβt alone π
you definitely arenβt alone π
Small gameplay idea (TOOL required): place a tiny resized sprinkler next to fire hydrants for something cool for neighborhood kids to do in the summer! π
why does copperdale have to be so goddamn suburban when half the world lots are only accessible by footpath
The marketplace math: creators do all the work for free, company invests nothing, takes 70%. Thatβs a 100% margin built on independent contractors with no job security, benefits, or employment protections. it devalues game developers and artists too, and I really hope this blows in their face.
Iβm concerned by anyone who hasnβt already run out of nails on this goddamn coffin
the way the synapses in my brain fire seeing this point made in the wild π€π»
make no mistake, I loathe EA for its greed and exploitation of community. but corporations are gonna corporation.
there will never be enough smoke for the blandification of this game. and that shit did NOT start with EA.
For those calling the marketplace the next Sims 3 store, you're not wrong. Also, we're not getting that. We're getting lipstick, shoes, and a $10 bedroom set. In beige.
Sims 3 store at least had stupid bangers like the Not So Routine machine that had the decency to make me laugh.
The guise of supporting our favorite creators is so strong weβre all happy to enter their code ourselves, no affiliate link needed! (And of course their reviews are always 100% honest, no matter how much theyβve come to rely on that commission, what the algorithm is doing that month, etc.)
It is also profitable to incentivize your ambassador program with a small commission on sales generation. The promise of high view counts on early access isnβt enough, in fact the more negative early access content seems to perform better! We canβt have that!
It isnβt profitable to police a βno perma paywallsβ policy.
It IS profitable to partner with those same creators to release official creator kits. Pay the creators a small sum and keep that content locked behind your own forever paywall. Kits are so cheap, we donβt even have to put them on sale!
EA has leveraged our community against itself for their own profit. Not just creator codes, though theyβre part of it. Itβs a strategy purposefully designed to be opaque so I donβt blame anyone for not seeing it for what it is, or for falling for the βsupport creatorsβ grift.
Every time I read anything about ea
βget that coin, girlβ we say to the fledgling vampires sucking the bloated corpse of The Sims franchise dry
donβt make me tap the sign
The official render art for the Yard Charm kit, featuring a lot of fanning horizontal lines (wooden planks and lights emitting from solar path lights, plain yellow wooden lawn furniture, a magenta hot tub, and some inexplicable macrame hanging from a dark gray wall of a millennial gray home. There are plants seemingly meant to be pampas grass that are somehow both taller, greener, and less fluffy than pampas grass, and small, strange clusters of LED lights, and a nondescript whitish-gray rug.
FINALLY a creator dares answer the question, what would it look like if creator kits were introduced the same year as the base game?
They won't start with banning birth control. First they'll lie about it. Then dictate who can prescribe it, use it, fund it, in what forms, and for how long. Suddenly, your doctor won't call you back. I know this is what they'll do because it's what they're doing to transgender healthcare right now.
love!!!! a unique theme that works with a lot of assets in the game, I would think. windflower poppies are perfect!
yay youβre doing it! +1 for spilling the details π
The ultimate Barbie Dream House, a Victorian inspired facade in hot pink and turquoise, straight from the β90s, and ornate white accents. The turret was an elevator!
Itβs giving β96 Barbie Dreamhouse in all the best ways π₯Ή
itβs the mechanism behind time traveling, yes! though that usually involves multiple resets and changing the date, etc.
but you can absolutely set it and forget to customize sunrise/sunset on your island. swapping 12am for pm is probably where Iβd start (so the time is *almost* correct haha)
if the time of day is whatβs holding you back you could adjust your Switch date/time settings manually so itβs always daytime when you play at night :)
A bunch of cunty lil digital paper dolls
Why did βzero reading comprehension leading to the least charitable interpretation of a sentenceβ survive every iteration of social media instead of cunty lilβ dolls
itβs so good though π΅ keep going!!
ahhh, congratulations!! beautiful ring
I just wonder how much or little thought most involved have given the arrangement, and think we should all give it a lot more consideration. myself included!
totally agree β βsupport creatorsβ just whitewashes the whole grift, and when itβs EACN delivering the messageβ¦ itβs literally a βyou scratch my back Iβll scratch yoursβ circle of people getting pennies on the dollar while they help EA rake in millions and provide cover for their reputation.
Game Changer π
I canβt begin to imagine how much hiding all this behind the identities of creators (cc and content creators) has sheltered the boardroom from the harshest feedback and impact on their bottom line. I hope they learn the lesson but itβll happen too late to salvage The Simsβ franchise reputationβ¦
even when our own community members are the face of, or stand to benefit a fraction from, a new release. selling, buying, and promoting these products all collectively play a part in making them a success β and that success in turn lowers the bar for the corporation raking in the profits.
