My husband and I volunteer for TaxAide, doing taxes for free for seniors. Seniors of moderate income have been surprised that their Social Security is still being taxed! I've gotten tired of explaining it gently. "He lied" is how I explain it now.

The majority of spending on Medicaid in Minnesota is for nursing home care for white persons with disabilities who have spent down all their savings on Healthcare. Does he have a vendetta against little old white ladies?

My daughter is also married to a very conservative "Christian". She has her PhD, now has 7 children. For much of their married life she was full time breadwinner and he worked odd jobs. Although we have not been cut off, his brainwashing efforts are evident. My heart goes out to you.

Be safe, know that there are thousands who wish they could be there with you.

They post pictures of local criminals in the paper. I like to say to my Maga relatives "oh look, another crime committed by a white male citizen". And yet they are pardoning those same guys and hiring them for ICE...

Bad, there are no good outcomes that come from guns. None.

Ah but my arch conservative relatives would say, "stop comparing us to Nazis, we arent killing people, just detaining criminals until we can send them back to their own countries". To which i say, "then why are people dying? why are children detained? why???

Also protecting other citizens and asking them if they are ok after being pepper sprayed is not a crime. Also looking out of your car and saying "I'm not mad at you buddy" is not a crime.

If you have access to PBS streaming services, please watch "the librarians" by Independent lens. A powerful documentary of how the moms for liberty tried to destroy school library content. Libraries changed my life as a kid, I was so proud of these librarians.

I hope the family can get him some counseling. He's going to carry that 5 year old burden. I worry he'll think that this was all his fault, and he needs to know it was not.
