This morning I dreamed that Rosewater had sold 948 copies and I was ecstatic. Then I woke up and thought β€œaw,man.”

Help make my dream a reality!

I live in York, so I guess me and this made-up guy constitute the thriving media hub. (Andy can join the hub as well if he ever gives up the well-paid joy of working for Devolver and plunges back into the poisoned lake of games journalism.)

A mighty video. And I'm particularly fond of Richard Dawson's selection of oddball hats.

I played a demo of Pieced Together at WASD a couple of years back and absolutely loved it. Although at the time I seem to remember the devs telling me they were looking for funding, and weren't sure about their next steps.

So glad to see they found a way through to launch, congratulations!

β€˜Don’t go to the US – not with Trump in charge’: the UK tourist with a valid visa detained by ICE for six weeks Karen Newton was in America on the trip of a lifetime when she was shackled, transported and held for weeks on end. With new blockbusters taking longer and costing more than ever to make, and nostalgia never a more powerful currency, shuttering a proven specialist in remakes and remasters is frankly insane. Casting out a team of such deep technical expertise and, more crucially, such broad institutional knowledge β€” Bluepoint doesn’t just know its own tools and technology, but also those of the studios whose games it has modernised, from Sony Santa Monica to Naughty Dog, Team Ico to FromSoftware β€” is simply inexplicable. Pretending there’s nothing for Bluepoint to work on, when the market for remakes has never been bigger and the long-rumoured, widely coveted Bloodborne remake has reached Shenmue 3 levels of mythicism, is unbelievable. Everything about this decision, from top to bottom and viewed from any and every angle, is ridiculous, baffling, an affront.

Rebecca Attard-Phillips gave a presentation on practical communications advice for indies at the recent Game Republic Trends and Opportunities event, and she has kindly written it up for GamesIndustry.biz.

If you're an indie developer, please read and share - this advice is GOLD.

I chatted with the Black Mesa devs about their new game, Rogue Point. My favourite bit from that interview was that the game features a planning stage where players can freely draw over a map of the area, and they reckoned the "time to penis" was "about three seconds".

A trio of Robert Tinney illustrated magazine covers: Floppy Disk, Software Piracy, Smalltalk Balloon

I wrote a tribute for BYTE Magazine's amazing cover artist, Robert Tinney, who died Feb 1st

Tinney painted 80 vivid and surreal covers illustrating various concepts in early personal computing from 1978-1990, usually airbrushed with gouache. May he RIP ❀️
