The peyote of the mineral world, lol.
It's a recurring theme. π Mind you, they pick bad "airport" non-fiction to start with. I've had this happen a couple of times but more often the authors just go off on too many side-quests with too little structure that should have been separate essays. Long live the long-form!
Have you been listening to @ifbookspod.bsky.social ? π
I just said this to a friend last week! I read a lot of non-fiction books and so many of them should have been an essay or a long-form article. Shorter, cheaper books is another good idea. It's like shows with one or two FANTASTIC seasons that keep going until I lose all respect for the producers.
You like your weasel words, don't you?
He can't even finish a sentence before starting another war.
THE Oliver North??? I was a teenager in Europe (Germany) and even *I* remember that guy's name. WTF?!
Get a haircut, Gad.
But seriously, I'm German. I've done volunteer work at Auschwitz, I'm old enough to have met Holocaust survivors, and I read victims' accounts when I was far too young (avid reader, library card, etc.). I thought I knew "evil", including The Banality Of Evil. This is different. It's pure nihilism.
At this point I question everything.
We've gone from "Facts don't care about your feelings" to "Facts = your feelings".
Sorry, it's white people food for everyone for the next couple of months π¬
Nooo! The best things about the Maus are that it doesn't talk and doesn't have a name. It's simply "die Maus". I also love how it often has a slightly puzzled look on its face.
the average Dieter's age is about 60
I like "Operation Epstein Fury"
Pre-emptive retaliation
They definitely moved fast and broke things.
The obliteration, however, will continue uninterrupted throughout the week.
Cute, they built a fort.
Soundproof, bullet-proof fabric
Sidenote (and I don't know if I'm imagining things) but on top of the unfathomable absurdity of it all, it sounds like a *European* Spanish accent to me.
