By the way if youโre on LinkedIn follow Anne-Sophie Corbeau. Her analysis is good and data backed. I was on a panel with her years ago. Solid person.
Good morning to you both, and Happy Arrival Day @catsinfrance.bsky.social
Yes of course. So Europe is entering shoulder months where prices or normally softer. The question is: Norway and refilling storage. And if stock levels are super low creating price flattening.
Sorry have been super busy in my day job.

I am not a U.K. market expert so have trouble answering your question off the top of my head. Let me do a bit of thinking on your question.
It is true that overall prices have risen and it is a situation where spot prices will be set the attractive LNG, meaning direct competition with Asia where there is no alternative to LNG in many markets (Korea, Japan).
Keep in mind: LNG is not a large part of UK energy mix.
Norway is important.
I know, right?!
e) therefore a policy of disincentives to investment (windfall tax, no new exploration rounds, etc) for environmental reasons, with an LNG import policy, does not really make sense. Nor from an industrial strategy or energy security perspective.
My quick thoughts.
c) natural gas is mainly used in power sector so with renewables growth it is needed less in general but used for balancing and when renewables not available
d) from a greenhouse gas perspective the intensity of LNG is about 30 kgCO2e/bbl - pipe gas (north field) would I guess be 10-15 kgCO2e/bbl
Ok
a) the U.K. is not reliant on Qatari LNG. In 2024 (last full year report Iโm looking at) the U.K. only imported 8 MTPA of LNG of which 5.1 MTPA is from the US and 0.6 MTPA from Qatar
b) the U.K. has 35.5 MTPA receiving capacity for LNG

That is not an answer to the question of gas storage.
You and @mliebreich.bsky.social have a common viewpoint !
Greenhouse Gas
What the UK did was hamstring domestic production decisions through idealistic implementation of net zero instead choosing to import LNGโฆ which if you pursue GHG focused policies domestic production beats LNG every time (simple process maths)โฆ
So weird. Itโs very straightforward to get in Paris. But I go to gyn not MT for it.
In France?
Beautiful! Which region?
Oui. Sur la presquโรฎle il nโy a pas beaucoup des artisans. Que 2 maรงonneries par exemple.

What I think when I see this photo: if government is of, for and by the people, these are not my people.
This is wonderful and just brightened my timeline, just a small fraction of the immense joy you radiate! Congratulations!
Right now Iโm working from home, and heโs all cuddled up with his stuffed toys sleeping. Itโs really adorable.
