thanks so much!! π
thanks so much!! π
thank you!
this is so cool to see - i'm trying to psych myself up to get more into personal sculpture this year & your work has always super inspired me, i love these texture experiments!!!
nah i really don't mean "experiencing misogyny can make women angry/violent", i mean very literally that people of any gender are capable of horrific, intentional harm. femininity =/= safety or compassion but a whole lot of people like to pretend it automatically does
iβve seen (pictures of!) you making that exact face so it was really instantly recognizable & cute π
okay it DOES make me so happy to see the realistic version of you though
noooo she looks tragic!! π
(if you are thinking about watching it, maybe check out some content warnings first even if you don't usually think you need to. i didn't think i needed to & i was wrong!)
idk i think i've just been around so much "femininity is always good & women are incapable of the same kinds of harm as men" bullshit & for personal reasons it has NEVER flown with me π i think a lot of people should watch it but i never need to see it again
there are a couple of these, but most recently it was Soft & Quiet (2022). vindicating to see a movie centering the INCREDIBLE violence white cis women are capable of & the specific ways gender & race inform how they wield power in white supremacy, but it's a 92 minute panic attack to watch
thank you! and yes definitely another huge lifelong inspiration there!
thank you!! thatβs adorable honestly, i like the idea of another winter monster thatβs more benevolent, maybe she (the Paw) has dominion over hibernation & guards sleeping creatures/plants
THESE TWO aughhh this hit me right in the damn heart π
yes i stretch, yes i take breaks, yes i've got a good chair & an upright/tilted desktop easel etc. etc. etc. π i had miserable work habits for decades & now that i'm trying harder to be good about it, this is what i get
managed to figure out & deal with a lot of the pain i was having in December-January (magnesium supplements make a huge difference?) but for some reason drawing is still much harder to do than anything else. frustrated & kind of disheartened about it
since approximately 1997! π
thank you! π i definitely need to be doing more sculpting, i get burned out on drawing but making 3D weird little guys is an endless source of joy
i know a lot of artists don't love "this reminds me of" comments, but i'm enjoying watching folks spot influences in my puppet design. the only thing i had actively in mind was Zeiram (as always, tbh), but there's definitely some xenomorph & even a bit of the creature from The Village in there
thanks! & no classes, not for this kind of puppet anyway - i took a stop motion course in art school that i built puppets for, but those were very different. this is my first marionette & i learned mostly by doing!
thatβs lovely!
Am image showcasing the game pieces for If I Were a Lich, Man. Pieces include four custom dreidels, lich cards illustrated with each character, custom X-Cards with crossed bones, character cards for Lee and Ruthie, bat cards, and scene cards.
Have you seen the game pieces for If I Were a Lich, Man? The dreidels are iconic of the game, but we also love the custom X-Cards! Which is your favorite?

Ugh, I used the wrong version of the link. I'm so fried right now, sorry. π www.gofundme.com/f/gen-sad-ki...
thank you! i just sort of pieced things together using various sources. i bought a cheap vintage marionette to get some hands-on experience & see how it worked, i also watched videos by Puppet Kitchen & borrowed David Currell's book "Making & Manipulating Marionettes" from my library
unfortunately i didnβt take one before dropping her off at the show! will do when i get her back in a month
thank you! her body is entirely fabric - head & hands have a mix of wire & aluminum foil armature with Sculpey Premo (head) & Cosclay (hands) over the top
thank you! what fun work that must have been, i had a classmate who went on to work for Jim Henson's workshop & i've always been so jealous of her career π
oh i think all the eyes are real! she can definitely see through the eyes on her "false" face but i don't think that mouth works, that's her real mouth with the teeth below. the pearly side eyes make sure she doesn't miss anything haha
thank you! i don't have any other puppets except a few made for a stop motion class almost two decades ago - hoping to make more though
thank you! it's the Winter Exquisite put on by the Forbes Zine Club - the puppets should be up for the zine fest at the library this Saturday & then they're on view until the "pageant" conclusion of the show (when i'll get to demonstrate her) on the 28th <3
thank you!!! <3
