Newsom isn't the bandaid to fascism when he's happy to cozy up to them while throwing marginalized groups--trans people, queer people, homeless people--under the bus for his own political expediency. Demand more of your leaders, for Christ's sake instead of scolding your fellow voters.
As someone who tends to give politicians the benefit of the doubt against my better judgement, if people truly cannot see how bankrupt and cynical Newsom's political presence is, that he is a product of billionaire donors who want to shape U.S. politics in their image, that's on them.
That's not me giving up on this country or on the Democratic Party (I'm not and have never been registered as a Democrat). That's them giving up on meaningful reforms. Votes are earned. I don't owe that phony fuck face Gavin Newsom a goddamned thing.
This was Harris's gambit in 2024 and it failed--that, and being more of Joe Biden (who was deeply unpopular). So, if the establishment strategy is to double down on a losing strategy of neoliberal economics and regressive social positions just because they're "not Trump," I've been there already.
I have not seen a single solitary thing from Gavin Newsom that suggests he deserves anyone's vote. What's his vision as an executive? From over here, it's to reset the clock back to 2008, maybe 2012 if I'm being generous. He'd rather chase centrists and center-right Republicans.
I find the comments under here fascinating. Because I voted for Sanders then Clinton. I voted for Warren then Biden. I voted for Harris. I accepted the party nominees despite how flawed they are and knowing they probably couldn't deliver half of what they promised.
