🌍 Globally, the legislation fails to meet the opportunity to enable global food security programs to operate in the most efficient and effective way possible – restricting Food for Peace nonemergency programming and failing to build on and strengthen emergency response programs.
🍎 Domestically, the bill does nothing to alleviate the harms done to nutrition programs through last year's "One Big Beautiful Bill Act," specifically the massive cuts to and restructuring of SNAP.
Our Statement on the House Markup of the Farm Bill:
"While offering limited positive policies, the bill fails to rectify damage caused by last year’s massive tax and spending bill, and does not advance the U.S. as a global leader in food security and agricultural development."

Consequences of recent #SNAP turmoil is not over. Even if benefits make it to those who need them many have made ends meet by sacrificing other things -rent, utilities, etc. These effects will spill into the future for many. Karen Ehrens explains on @wuky.org.
