Thank you, Charlie!
Crazy, man.
Thanks, manβI appreciate you!
Proof that guyswith beards are the coolest!
Anytime. You know me: I can talk about myself and my works all day long!
I had a blast with this interview! And my cats always appreciate the photo-ops π
I had the honor and pleasure of being interviewed by the fabulous @trudieskies.readindiefantasy.com. Thanks, Tru!
Anyone would look good in THAT hat.
Iβm posting on Threads now and will be spending less time on BlueSky. Hopefully Iβll see some of you there!
I should clarify that this was something I heard someone say in a taped interview. The person who said it has undoubtedly never heard of me and wasnβt commenting on any of my books. So I doubt if anything I do will piss him off unless he happens to run across any of my stories.
You might have something there.
I have no problem with that π
It has a nice shock value.
I love ALL writing advice. But I ignore 90 percent of it. I just wrote a blog about that.
I guess he was saying you should keep them around for a significant amount of time before terminating them. Not sure, though. It didnβt make any sense to me.
Thank you π
I saw an interview the other day where an author said you shouldn't build up a side character and make the readers like them, and then kill them off in the next chapter. Well, then, how many chapters should I wait? Fuck it, I'm knocking them off in the next chapter.
My new Under the Fedora blogpost features Fundamental Advice for Writers. What?!? Are you kidding me?? Haven't we all had enough with the tired old writers advice conversation? Well, maybe. I tried to make this a little different, though. Check it out:

Well, five stars are nice. But I'll put the content of that 3-star review right up there with the 5-star reviews I've received and ahead of many of them.
I've always maintained that the number of stars counts for far less than the fact you got reviewed. I'm far more interested in the number of reviews a book gets than the number of stars in the reviews.
Copy of a fairly lengthy review of A Troll Walks into a Bar that calls the story βfantasticβ and the mystery βengagingβ while cautioning against some objectification of women and graphic violence that nonetheless βfit right in this style of noir novel.β
This Goodreads review of A Troll Walks into a Bar might be the most complimentary 3-Star review Iβve ever received π

My latest drabble (100-word story) is up on my Under the Fedora blogsite. It's called The Honorable Boxer, and it may or may not be an allegory. Check it out if you've got a spare 30 seconds: douglaslumsden.substack.com/p/drabble-45...
Thank you! Thatβs a first for me, but Iβll take it π
That's me holding two signs: No Kings in America Ever, and No Kings No Dictators.
That's my wife, Rita, holding the same two signs. We were on the fringes of the demonstration at that point.
The center of the demonstration was pretty packed.
I liked this sign, which reads: Does this ass make my country look small? I would say that nearly half of the people in attendance had a sign.
Rita and I dropped by our local No Kings Day demonstration. Biggest turnout I've ever seen for a demonstration in our sleepy little town!
Some dude who calls himself Ziggy has written some wild reviews of them π
Very cool!
"A world where Detectives dodge troll punches, witches curse over whiskey, and demons lurk in Yerba City's neon glow. That's the storm Lumsden creates, and readers are hooked like addicts in a speakeasy."

Still sick and just landed in Florida, but itβs #FridayReads time! Letβs boost all signals. Repost this and let us know what to repost for you. Hereβs a perfect read for the season: darkness, magic, ghosts, violence, a floating cow head, and monsters. π»

Oh, you've definitely got to check out Nick Danger, featured in Firesign Theater's second album: "How Can You Be in Two Places at Once When You Aren't Anywhere at All." The first four Firesign Theater albums are classics!
I loved the Felix Castor books!
