To be fair I think this person put themselves across badly originally, it turns out they do agree that 20 should be the limit in any sort of area where there are people around. They at least seem to be open to discussion as well.

There's no precedent in human history or in nature for children (and people in general) to be separated from 3 tons of lethal metal by just a few cm of empty space. Trying to confine people to a tiny, often non existent pavement is unnatural and of course it should be on the driver to slow down

And that leads to the belief they are justified drive in whatever way they feel like, wherever and whenever they want. And that's why 5 people are killed by drivers every day, 50 are seriously injured and countless more involved in incidents.
That the notion exists that can be the pedestrian's own fault if they are killed by someone controlling lethal machinery only further encourages more dangerous driving IE. I can drive however I feel like down this residential road where I can see there are likely to be kids playing and pets roaming.
