Schools donβt incentivise learning yourself. The assignment are graded. Form is emphasised over content. Where do you reward making mistakes and learning yourself? There is no moral high ground in stating it makes no sense, if the institutions are literally asking for the opposite.
I am not sure I see that. There is a race to the common denominator on how to present the findings pushed by colleagues, reviewers, editors and the fear to be accepted and funded. Publish or perish has side effects towards the how to publish.
