California youths plead with appeals court to hear how climate change affects their lives In an appeal, lawyers for 18 California youths argued that regulators discount children's future health when weighing environmental policies.

Eighteen Californians, ages 10 to 19, are asking an appeals court to OK their claims that the EPA discriminates against children by ignoring the long-term health benefits of climate regulations. @blancabegert.bsky.social

There Is No Better Time To Begin The most effective forms of resistance come from community networks. Hereโ€™s how to find and connect to yours right now.

From @reveleth.com, a guide to getting started in mutual aid work. It might seem daunting at first. But we've got you. "There is no better day to begin. Talk to your neighbors, your local groups, your clubs. Get yourself connected to the networks around you." www.coyotemedia.org/there-is-no-...

I think a lot of us get hope wrong. Hope, I do not believe, is an emotion. In fact, hope makes space for lots of emotions to exist alongside it. You can DO hope scared, angry, sad etc...

Hope doesn't find us. We make hope through action and struggle. It's a practice of living and is re-made daily.

โ€œEverybody Showed Upโ€: Stunning Crowds at Minnesota Day of Strike and Shutdown Against ICE Extreme cold didn't stop the shutdown on Friday as some 100 faith leaders were arrested, residents stayed home from work, and an estimated 50,000 or more marched through downtown Minneapolis.

I'm not one for false optimism. But what I witnessed today in Minneapolis was tremendous, both in scale and exuberance. It was a stunning answer to the federal assault on Minnesota, a show of solidarity that gives us something to hold on to during times that are unforgiving.

But when I asked an organizer what they wanted to see out of press coverage, they told me they wanted people to see the beautiful things they are building here, and not just the worst stories of the worst of ICE's crimes.

What people are doing here is beautiful. It's a tragic beauty, but a real one

Can chatting with strangers improve public health? Science and data are important, research shows, but people are incredibly receptive to personal stories about public health.

wrote about yapping (making small talk) for @statnews.com . why I love to do it, why I need to get better at it (in terms of talking about public health) and why everyone should make friendly conversation with a stranger.

Scientists had to change more than 700 grant titles to receive NIH funding. Health disparities researchers fear whatโ€™s next The titles of more than 700 multi-year NIH grants have been changed this year, according to an analysis by Jeremy Berg, a former agency official

The NIH has insisted there are no banned words

But, an analysis by @jeremymberg.bsky.social found over 700 hundred grants changed their titles from '24 to '25

Some see it as a small price to pay to keep their grant, but others are worried about what comes next
