Unfortunately this makes our Nige look kind of loveable.
Absolutely!
Me and Jackie Forster on the Leeds march. Iβm holding a placard saying Stop the Clause.
On this day in 1988, 2000 people took to the streets of Leeds for a Stop the Clause protest.
The clause was an amendment to the Local Government Act intended to suppress public discussion of homosexuality. It became known as Section 28.
At the time 75% of people believed homosexuality was wrong.
To be fair, it also says Kerala behind me and Iβm not there.
But yes, Prague.

I was at the Lennon Wall in Prague.
Thank you.
Excellent choices from @dorianawards.bsky.social with 7 big wins for Sinners, Best LGBTQ movie going to the underloved Pillion and a lifetime achievement award for the marvellous Tim Curry.

Iβll disagree with you on Daniel Radcliffe.
Heβs a staunch ally for LGBTQ people. And he did Merrily We Roll Along on Broadway, helping to turn Sondheimβs greatest flop into his biggest hit. So heβs earned my love.

On Sunday I attended the unveiling of the restored Rainbow Plaque, marking the location of Powders Laundrette in the movie.
Gordon Warnecke (Omar), writer Hanif Kureshi and director Stephen Frears were all in attendance.

Trans lives are more important than Harry Potter. π
My Beautiful Laundrette was released in 1985.
The champagne exchange between Daniel Day-Lewis and Gordon Warnecke was the first gay kiss I saw on a big screen - and I went back and watched it at the cinema two more times after.
I played another character the same evening and the βstache was even more pertinent for him.
Will probably post later.

More than half of participants in a small HIV cure trial maintained a low enough viral load to stay off treatment for 20 weeks.
One participant remains undetectable after a year.
Note: while this is encouraging, the different responses indicate the prospect of a cure for all remains distant.
Iβd give you the part.
PrEP is not reaching enough of the people most at risk, to end the HIV epidemic - and Trumpβs aid cuts have made a bad situation worse.
It was hoped that new infections could be almost eliminated by 2030, now itβs projected that more people will acquire HIV in 2030 than in 2024.
As itβs the last day of #LGBTQHistoryMonth (in the UK), hereβs a thread about growing up gay in the 1980s/90s, facing the threat of AIDS and the introduction of Section 28.
Yeah, I get that.
Please hand him his arse in the midterms.
Thank you.
Itβs estimated that PEPFAR (the bi-partisan Presidentβs fund to tackle AIDS) has saved 26 million lives since 2003.
But in 2025, PEPFARβs lifesaving momentum was slowed down by Trumpβs administration, which has radically different ideas about global health funding β particularly for #HIV.
Yeah, Iβm screwed.
In HIV cure studies (utilising broadly neutralising antibodies) some participants can stay off treatment without viral rebound for much longer than others.
New study sheds light on why - and asks whether the same response could be induced in others.
