This is my 8”x10” linocut of a yellow garden spider, also known as a writing spider in its web against a green background. The yellow garden spider (Argiope aurantia) are quite lovely. The larger female spiders like this lady are striking with their yellow and black markings on their abdomen and their mainly white cephalothorax. They are 19-28 mm (0.20” - 0.35”) in body length so I have printed her more or less life sized, on her web with its distinctive feature, the zigzag stabilimentum, a telltale sign of this specific orb spider found from Canada to Columbia.

I also made a small edition of spider and web alone.

There's a fungus among us....

You've got this! Sometimes printing is throwing yourself at a brick wall until you decide the wall is pretty enough :) I have made many mistakes in this carve but I still really love the final print and that's what matters tbh

Once your blocks are carved it's time to do a test print, I find it's important to accidentally peel up one of your tabs and have to stick it back down and pray to god it's not too misaligned but god is rarely merciful :)

The chickens are transferred to the blocks and now I need to think about what order I'm going to print them in, what details I want in which colours, how they will overlap and where I want to have my white/negative space #process #linocut
