Thank you everyone who came out to the Big Trans and βHonβ-Binary reading last night! It was a joy to have another chance to wear this dress, share my wacky ass writing, and see all your gay faces.
I know some think AWP is stressful and there are aspects of this conference that can be gross and scummy, but I always find it so soul boosting and uplifting. There are some truly amazing people in the literary community and I love getting to spend four days straight with them and their art.
Author Mariah Rigg's headshot appears in the lower right corner. Above is a quotation from her interview: "Some writers are interested in character, some in place or plot, but Iβm most interested in relationships."

Shout out to the Lyft driver that @riggstah.bsky.social and I had last night that exclusively played Imagine Dragons.
Otakon forever tainted this convention center for me. AWP should not be in the same place that I saw a screening of Otaku No Video
That's right. You got no leg to stand on, Newsom supporters. Shut your hole. We don't need anti trans anti homeless greaseball shit. North Carolina is purple, it's not some blue stronghold.
1908: the Lancet, one of the most respected scientific journals, calls for 18 age limit on reading in bed amidst a moral panic surrounding children becoming "addicted" to novels, which were "designed to keep kids hooked" and destroy their attention/mental health
The game board for the classic Candy Land board game, which shows a rainbow-segmented wandering path with various candy-based characters around it.
Where I'll be at #AWP:
i feel strongly that anyone that thinks that there is a nefarious cabal of surgeons and doctors Transing people should be forced to try and schedule one (1) transsexual procedure
Picked my docs up from the local cobbler only to find her watching Fox News in the shop. Guess I need to find a new shoe doctor
these AWP announcements about readings all over my beloved city make me just schoolgirl-happy
Something else about Vanderbilt's capitulation: VUMC said it would only offer βnonsurgical gender-affirming care for adults 19 years and older.β But 18-year-olds are adults. Tennessee law bans this care for people *under* 18, so VUMC is once again overcomplying
Weβre getting a snowy Monday and an 80 degrees and sunny Saturday all in one week. March in Maryland doesnβt fuck around.
What if there was a mindful way to steal peopleβs art, pollute Black neighborhoods, and raise everyoneβs electric bill?
There, fixed it
Hello! I am a trans journalist looking to speak with trans kids and parents of trans kids across the US who have been impacted by the clinic closures---please get in touch or share!
Scene from Andor, Imperial propagandists talking about manufacturing public support for a genocide: edited on the last word. The propagandist says, with a smirk, "Hasn't there always been something slightly arrogant about the trans?"
NYT opinion page for the last decade:
some cis folks have committed to delusion regarding the NYT's eager participation in the destruction of trans lives. cis ignorance doesn't change the facts, however βΒ which lots of us *have* paid close attention to for a long time. if you're oblivious still, your privilege is showing.
shockingly people are capable of simultaneously,
1. Hating their government
2. Hating the people who bomb and sanction their country, making regular life impossible and murdering members of their family, even more
this is your mission. our pedophile president needs you to bomb this elementary school full of kids because he thinks it makes him look cool. also his scheming viziers will be betting money on it for fun. good luck soldier

Kinda weird no one ever says "[news story] is just a distraction from the attacks on trans rights," huh?
Provided that things work out, what mediocre but widely read book will become a mainstay in high school and college classrooms?
Iβm realizing that I have the same haircut as Lena Heady in βImagine Me and You.β
Every major disaster in this country over my lifetime has been self inflicted by right wing ideologues with just enough complicit or inert Democrats to enable or ratify them. That's why we've been on this doom trajectory for the last ~50 years and it'll keep getting worse if that doesn't change
