in fact, using seth macfarlane shows as an example serves my point more. lois, meg, francine, and hayley are all allowed to be flawed, goofy, and zany from time to time. thats why american dad and family guy can make a million seasons the way they do

i gave birdgirl an honest chance because ultimately i do think we need more western adult animation with female protagonists. but this show is not a good example at all. just watch Yolo: Crystal Fantasy instead as its actually funny and lets the girls be as wacky and bizarre as peter griffin

this ideology is why there are no recurring female characters in smiling friends. you have beautiful women who exist to be ogled at or pitied. but no funny girl characters

the ideology that male characters can be funny but female characters have to be relatable sucks and its what made this show suck.

an uptight businesswoman who represses herself and denies all pleasure moonlighting as a super horny and violent superhero is a good setup for a story i think this show just doesnt have the sauce to handle it

i liked that in HB there werent any secret identities (except birdgirl but not really). every villain was just themselves working a different job. harvey was harvey 24/7. but judy and birdgirl being separate people is kind of interesting lol

the song playing here is a knockoff of Oops I Did It Again. i will be taking this as an easter egg bc in the finale of HB: AaL phil listens to a knockoff of Dancing Queen while hijacking that bus

this show is so.....straight. its like painfully straight.

judy in this episode seems to be the closest to the original birdgirl characterization (violent, dismissive/inattentive of others disapproval, high energy, slightly horny)

you have an elementary schooler and a talking dog serving on the board of the biggest corporation in america and a bunch of scifi shit basically every episode. but this show wont let itself break out of subdued grounded workplace comedy mode....

she just isnt interesting in the slightest idg why she has screentime

i like this episodes characterization of judy. the wanky episode felt like it was forcing the "LOOK GUYS SHES SO RELATABLE!!" thing too much and i couldnt rly suspend my disbelief. this makes way more sense for who she is as a person

i think this show needed a straightforward superhero story honestly. like this continuity is not necessarily bad but it doesnt handle comedy too well. theres some cool concepts (baltimization and sebbentown, phil and judy's dynamic, all the aforementioned villain origin stories)
