¡La famosa batata! During #TaludContinental_IV, the largely Argentine science team nicknamed sea cucumbers batata, which means sweet potato in Spanish. While we have no authority to change animal names, we believe that batata is an excellent upgrade for the oh-so-important but humble sea cucumber.

Argh I was contemplating before on getting the zebra maculatums Vs the porcellionides pruinosus oreos. I got the Oreos!!! I'll get some zebras too maybe. 🥹

An oblong pinkish-red beetle with large black spots on its elytra (hardened wing covers) and a pinkish-red pronotum (shield behind the head) with two large black triangular spots, and black eyes and a red head. It is standing on a leaf, facing the camera.

Spotted Pink Lady Beetle, eater of aphids. It's been found that planting aphid susceptible crops interspersed with pollen rich flowers, like dandelions, attracts these beetles and can aid in aphid control. They overwinter in leaf litter so leaving leaves around helps too.

So I have some wild caught #Armadillidium #Depressum #isopods from my garden, been caring for them since March this year. Glad to see them thriving in the enclosure I made for them. They love the chalk houses I've carved for them. 🥹 Love shack! Caught them mating in there several times.

My cute "newborns". They're about 3 to 4 days old I just noticed them 2 nights ago, already doing their first moult.

They're my first magic potion babes. Yay.

Inside a rusted pole, a large black tarantula with yellow hair sits in a defensive position. A hive of wasps swarms on its back, protecting its young.

The Hive Tarantula (Theraphosa vesparium) enters a symbiotic bond with a swarm of wasps, allowing them to build a colony on its abdomen. The spider protects the queen and larvae, and the wasps help feed it.
This mutualistic unit of tarantula and wasp is extremely territorial.

I just saw some last night and today on my succulents (here in South England). Dunno if they're also introduced species. Here's a cute video 🥹🧡
