God, I feel this. And it is so weird how striated my social spaces are. Like I'm worried on a daily basis about my access to food/medicine if shit gets bad and my parents are just like "ugh, can't wait until we get to fix this in four years" and it is like we don't even live on the same planet.

Missed this coming out, but omg, Kirkus has named NIMONA one of the best books of the century (so far)!

The leopards are absolutely stuffed. Just gorged out of their minds on all the delicious faces, food coma imminent, napping leopards soon to be everywhere

Sitting in bed at 4am unable to sleep, wondering the same damn thing: what if we all just collectively screamed. Opened Bluesky and almost immediately saw this. β€œOkay, cool, so we’re all thinking it.”

Literally no one in America voted to:

Take over Greenland
Take over Canada
Take over Panama Canal
Take over Gaza
Let a bunch of anonymous 20 year olds crawl into the guts of federal funding

"audiobooks aren't reading, only reading is reading"

Ok, turns out I don't write booksβ€”I type them.

Also guess I'm gonna have to mount brackets to every wall in my house so I can actually hang up the phone, since pushing the lil red button on my screen definitely doesn't count.

Forever shocked and betrayed to re-discover that cleaning my house β€œmakes my environment cleaner” and that this makes me β€œfeel better.” What a scam. I’m supposed to be immune to this.

I finally moved to a rural area so I have more space now, but I definitely know what you mean about finding homesteading information that isn’t yikes. Do you follow Parkrose Permaculture? She would be a good person to ask.

@renwritesraze.bsky.social I legitimately thought this post was from you and was surprised when it wasn’t.

Maybe all of those people who were over the top concerned with a former candidates email server should come out of the woodwork now.

It is true. My parents have these itty bitty little forks -- normal length but skinny handle, TINY tines that are smaller than toddler fork tines -- and I love them an unreasonable amount. Specifically love to eat rice with the tiny forks.

I figure OP probably means Harris, but man, this week I have been having "the one who got away" feelings about the potential of an Elizabeth Warren presidency. Imagine where we could have been right now if we had gone with like a Warren/Raskin ticket in 2020.

The Trump administration has placed two top security chiefs at the U.S. Agency for International Development on leave after they resisted turning over classified material in restricted areas to Elon Musk’s staffers. America, please stand with usβ€”we are fighting to defend this country!

We do love The 5,000 Pound Chin.

Have always said that if there is a heaven, mine has me sprawled in a recliner with a 5,000 pound doberman chin pressing on one forearm and a 5,000 pound borzoi chin pressing on the other, with soulful eye contact. Just holding long-face dog chins forever. Bliss.

I had hoped this year would be my β€œpractice garden,” but I’ve upgraded to β€œthis garden will be load-bearing.”

I can’t fix the system, but I can reduce the degree to which I am reliant on it. This would be a good year to experiment with gardening or raising livestock locally if you’ve considered it.

the point is not that it's fast -- the point it that it's systematic.

Current State of the Brain is pretty much a rotation of this, "perhaps I shall learn hand-quilting so I have an excuse to stare at a tiny space and not think for long periods of time," "can't talk now, gotta start a garden!" and "if I do not consume the news 25 hours a day I will die to death."

I'm tired of "what doesn't kill me makes me stronger." We almost had a future of "thriving makes me plump and gentler", and I'm so angry tonight about how we could have had progress, but our neighbors chose suffering...for all of us.
