What has been different for those that successfully integrate?

Oh i think i missed the medieval context somewhere. I do find an irony in the romanticism of brutally hard subsistence farming. But i grew up a farmer in a farming community so i dont have rose tinted glasses about this. Didnt realize we were talking about slavery.

I think there will always be people who enjoy both. I do software engineering, and haul manure for my gardens. Its a lot of work, especially without a tractor, but enriching the soil, enjoying the movement, and getting to grow enough food for myself and family is extremely pleasurable.

Context switching like that always seems a bit overwhelming, even on a good day. But i rarely have “blockers” anymore. Like endurance activities pacing is key.

I also tend to focus on what the customer facing team says and am extremely adaptive to their needs because they use the software all day for their jobs. Feel like they are not used to that.

I feel this ive always been a bit more of a communicator than the other devs i work with and this is felt as appreciation from clients who dont expect it.

I work in tech to get back to making compost and gardening asap. I live to compost. I want to basically look like a tree and be received by a mushroom colony when i die.

I try to tell this to my peers at work. I can always tell when the ceo polishes stuff with gpt. It makes everything sterile and creates more work than it accomplishes imo.
