Met with Mayor Knack of Edmonton to discuss shared priorities and national unity.
As a former teacher, I love getting to visit schools as an MP. Yesterday morning I had the pleasure of visiting students at Ralph Maybank School and Harrow School to help them celebrate I Love to Read Month.
Wishing Team Canada, especially the 5 athletes from Manitoba, the best of luck as the 2026 Olympic Winter Games kick off in Milano Cortina!
I had the chance to speak in the House of Commons yesterday about aspects of our judicial reform bill that will bring in stronger penalties for people who commit crimes against health care workers, paramedics, firefighters, & police officers. Check out my full speech here: youtu.be/pJiRcMfUcPM?...
Yesterday, I sat down with Mayor Knack of Edmonton, in my capacity as Chair of the Prairie North Caucus.
We discussed the issues that matter to Edmontonians, Winnipeggers, and all residents of Canada's Prairie provinces, as well as the importance of national unity at this time of global rupture.
Thanks to members of the Winnipeg South Sikh Centre for welcoming my colleagues Randeep Sarai, Terry Duguid, and me to the Gurudwara for a productive discussion on community safety this weekend.
I was grateful to spend time with Layla, a young high school leader, alongside other members of the community at Winnipegβs Black History Month kick-off event at City Hall in Winnipeg.
February is Black History Month - a time to celebrate and recognize the achievements, contributions, and resilience of Black communities.
My weekly recap from the first week back at Parliament.
On Monday evening I joined colleagues and community members at a ceremony to commemorate the victims and stand firm against Islamophobia and hate of all kinds.
Today is the National Day of Remembrance of the Quebec City Mosque Attack and Action Against Islamophobia. We honour the memory of the six Muslim Canadians who were killed and the 19 others who were injured in the 2017 terrorist attack in QuΓ©bec in Sainte-Foy.
As Flag Day approaches, the Government of Canada has launched the Community Flag Bearers Contest to recognize community members who bring to life the values embodies by the Canadian Flag. Nominees are being accepted from now until February 15.

It was a powerful ceremony this morning in Ottawa alongside the Prime Minister and colleagues from across the aisle.
Over the past several years in Canada, including very close to home for me and my constituents, we have seen a dangerous increase in violent, hateful acts that are targeted directly at Jews in Canada. We need all Canadians to speak up - not just Jews.
Today is International Holocaust Remembrance Day. It honours the memory of the 6 million Jews and many others murdered by the Nazis. It also marks the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau by Allied forces in 1945.
Today our government announced new measures to make life more affordable for Canadians. Together, we are building a stronger, more resilient Canadian economy.

Extremely productive day of meetings in Ottawa with the PM & our Caucus. Iβm incredibly proud of the PMβs leadership which is underpinned by our governmentβs steadfast commitment to diversifying trade, protecting our sovereignty, & upholding Canadian values during this time of rupture in the world.
Itβs Winter Carnival season in Winnipeg South Centre! Great time this afternoon with constituents at the Whyte Ridge Community Centre. It was a great turnout and showcased the diversity and spirit of our riding beautifully. #WinterCarnival
Thank you to all of those from various faith groups who attended as well, and the ongoing leadership of community members committed to peace and inclusivity.
It was nice to spend time with congregants at Shaarey Zedek this morning for celebration, reflection, and common purpose.
It has been a difficult week for them and the broader community following several antisemitic attacks.
The pain of the tragedy will never go away. I am very proud that the only permanent memorial to the victims of Flight PS752 in the world is located in my riding of Winnipeg South Centre. The site offers a place for reflection, remembrance, and resistance.
Today is the 6th anniversary of the downing of Flight PS752, a tragedy that claimed 176 lives, including 8 members from Winnipegβs Iranian community. My thoughts today are with the victimsβ families and loved ones, who continue to bear the weight of this loss.
My statement on recent targeted hate events in Winnipeg.
β¦ and in particular, from those outside of the Jewish community. It needs allies and the time for that is now.
Large swastikas plastered on the doors of my childhood synagogue, located in my riding, serve as yet another reminder of our need to fight antisemitism through education, judicial reform, & a collective attitude that not only recognizes the depths of the issue but rejects it loudly and with purposeβ¦
Yet again, antisemitic graffiti in an act of hate targeted directly at Winnipegβs Jewish community occurred this weekend.
Happy New Year Winnipeg South Centre!
